    Hello everyone
I'm new here and I'm trying to get an advise from you guys regarding my car.
My Idrive its keep rebooting after few seconds,I'm able to enter and navigate but it would turn off after few seconds.
I have not installed any new maps or anything else in my car.
I have driven about 500 miles and the next morning Idrive was rebooting and also noted wet carpets on the back seat..don't know if its linked with the my Idrive issue.
I have disconnect the battery for more than 15 min I checked all the fuses linked with Idrive but still the same problem.
    I know are 2 options:
    1.buy a new hard unit
    2.have the software re installed/updated.
Someone checked my car an found those errors and he advised me that the software needs to be re installed.
I spoke to BMW garage but they want to charge me £162 for diagnosis and another £110 if a new software needs to be installed, which I think it's too much.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I managed to sort it out, if anyone is experiencing the same problems.
I went to BMW dealer and they have done a software update and now is fully working.
    It cost me £40

Welcome aboard, glad you've got it sorted.
With regard to the wet carpets in the rear, this can occur when the membrane behind the door trim panels becomes detached.
Might be worth having a look.

    Kindest Regards
    Carl.

I have spoken to a different person which knew what the problem was and advised that it's a common problem and shouldn't take more than 30 min for the software to be installed but it took less than that.

    Hi,

What dealer did you use? Also was it a constant idrive reboot loop every few seconds?

    Thanks

Yes it was constant after few seconds very annoying.
The dealer is BMW Hailsham Chandlers.
It's worth trying to go and speak to them about the fault.
    Thank you

I’m guessing you have business nav (small screen) ? As I have been advised that the software fix is for HU-B and not for HU-H which is what I have unfortunately

You are welcome. As per situation 2 in that TSB I wondered/hoped it might be an unsupported Blue Tooth device causing the reboot?

“Confirm any BT paired phone is approved for use in the vehicle. If the phone is not approved please delete the paired phone from the Idrive menu and make sure to notify the customer.”

The only phone paired is my Iphone XS MAX and the unit reboots every 25 days or so as I have been recording the dates. Started for me after map update from 2019-2 to 2020-1. So I have returned maps to 2019-2 and re downloaded 2020-1 from the bmw website but this time using windows not mac. I have re installed the maps today (2020-1) all installed correctly so now its a waiting game. If the car needs an update any idea of cost?

    Thanks

The Vehicle Information tab on your ISTA screen will report the current I level once the initial vehicle identification and diagnosis has been performed.

    Update:

Software update failed unit rebooted again today so back to dealer for new head unit. Thankfully have fully comp BMW extended warranty so just the excess of £250.00 to pay. However I have asked for a refund of the £99 paid yesterday for the software update as it failed to fix it. Will be interesting to see what the dealers response will be after they stated that it fixes 95% of cars and they do 3 upgrades a week with this fault.
