Identify my engine ??

    Just wondering if anyone can tell me how I can identify which engine I have, I know its an N47 but think there are two kinds a 16 and a 20 ?

    You could look up your VIN in a vin decoder online and it will tell you.

    Just been on the vin decoder site but all it says is its an N47

    I think I know now , ,if I'm right mine is a 2.0l so N47d20 so a 1.6l should be N47d16, apparently the 20 is the more reliable, but I now need to know if mine is an N47d20a or an N47d20c and apparently the d20c is the better of those two lol

    What year is your car? I think the n47d20c engine was introduced around 2010.

    Another way to check is to look at the intake manifold. Does the air intake pipe join the manifold at the front of the engine or at the rear? If at the rear then it's the older 'a' engine.

    Mine is a 59 plate but registered 2010 and yes the intake is at the front (drivers side) so N47d20c it is :)

    The intake manifold (not the air filter assembly) is on the passenger side. There are 2 types of intake manifold.

    Picture below shows the n47d20a manifold where it curves at the back where the intake pipe joins from the intercooler.
