Saw this over on DW - I have no view on it as I'll never be able to afford one, even in the 'post concept' era. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=405054
I couldn't see the photos so I googled it. Seems okay I suppose but I'm still content to run a car with an IC engine, just feels right to me. And a V8 or a V12 would be perfect!!
I certainly wouldn't be buying one if it looked like that, but it is just a concept car. All the major manufacturers will be clambering for the EV market out there. Electric seems cheap for fuel costs at the moment, but once a certain percentage of sales is reached in the future, the government will find a way to shift the fuel tax onto EV's.
Here you go...just for you EDIT: That didn't work, I'll try again - but it'd be easier if you just signed up to DW.......
When I googled "BMW i4" earlier I looked at one on the Autocar web site and it looked much more like a production car. Still not that keen really. Mieke is right about the taxation of these cars in the future, last year when we were on holiday doing the NC500 I listened to Phillip Hammond being interviewed on the radio and he said very clearly that "We will have to find new ways of taxing the motorist" when asked about electric vehicles. He didn't mention anything about the massive amount of extra power that will need to be generated though.
I'll wait and see a production ready model before deciding on the looks. I wouldn't be against going electric, I’ve driven a Tesla a couple of times and the instant torque and speed is fantastic, however the current real life range makes it a non starter for me.
