I had a customer, an offshore worker who bought one of these back in the 80s.

He arranged for a mate to take a train South to collect it and drive it back to Aberdeen. I said to the pal that it must have been a great experience. He vowed he'd never drive one again, as it nearly rattled all the fillings from his teeth. :cautious:

Certainly a brave choice for a long road journey. Ha.
The lightweight mantra of stripping everything out and fitting a roll cage wouldn’t be my idea of a pleasant journey. As a track/weekend toy however....

I looked it over in detail and seemed the real deal to me.
Recent auctions suggest £38-45K as a price. Thought would be more.
Was hoping it was a ‘71 car, great things came about in 1971.......

Awful to drive and would kill you in an instant if you lost concentration for 2 mins! My 993 was much better although still difficult in the wet nice to look at but that's about it i'm afraid unless you get the 993 turbo which is 4 wheel drive or a C4. Sorry to say the comfort isn't there either

Awful to drive? They're great fun! Much better than any soulless BMW produced after the E38/E39/E46 era.

Had you driven 1 at speed in the wet or on a poor road surface?

Yes, driven in wet and windy conditions. Raw to drive - just how cars should be, IMO. Modern cars are boring with their driver aids.
