A pic of the OBC on the 530i at the start of the 2nd day of my trip away. Coming up for 16 years old with 134k miles on her....

Even allowing for an 'over-read' percentage, I'm happy enough :driving:

Looks good to me as well.
59.8 mph average say's you didn't hang about so the 40.9 mpg is very good going.

Very impressive. Same engine (ish) in my 330Ci never returned more than 35mpg on a long run.

Definitely think you boys and girls have got it easy up here you are as far as traffic though. You can carry speed over distance without interruption a lot easier than us folk further south.

My Uncle has had frankly ludicrous mpg returns on all sorts of cars living up in NW Scotland. They drop through the floor when he comes south for a few weeks.

That is pretty good for a 3 ltr petrol engine - 41 mpg at an average of 60 mph. Not far off my 330d diesel.
You obviously have a very light right foot @slim_boy_fat (y)

For some reason I can’t see John’s original post, only the responses.

Bug? Do others have the same issue?

    Some great figures indeed.
The N53 in my previous 2008 325i was surprisingly frugal when I drove sensibly. Regularly saw 40+ mpg on long runs.

Yes free running traffic does make a difference.

I have had the sort of figure in the picture several times, running down to Perth over 90 miles. Includes 55 miles on the average speed camera A9.

The 535i can return some pretty good figures. But being a touring with powered options like Adaptive Drive, is a heavy and less efficient beast.

Last trip to Wiltshire was reading 37.9mpg as we left the M4 (after ~500 miles), to drop down into Bath. Average was over 65mph, and AC was working hard with temperatures of up to 30C. Had been over 38mpg, but the uphill leg from M4/M5 intersection lost me a few points. :)

Here's the figure for the whole trip. MPG plummeted, as did average mph, while we were in and out of Bath from Calne/Chippenham, to the RU hospital every day for over a week, most days in some 'stop - start' traffic, and in temperatures of over 30C at times. Dropped to less than 30mpg during the 10 days. MPG recovered a bit on the home leg, still very impressed with the overall result.

    Trip MPG.jpg

Corrected, the figure would knock off about 0.5mpg, still good at 32.5mpg for over 1500 miles, knowing the conditions of use.

You obviously missed the average speed of 60 mph. That's not hanging about, unless it's all on motorways. :)

I'd say about 2/3rds of the 500+ miles was on m/ways. Best guess.........

It’s odd. I still can’t see it. I assume there is a photo as well as some writing?

Maybe the manual 'box has some bearing on it? :driving:

@Merc? No. BM! Just so you don't feel discriminated against, I'll try again as a 'clickable' thumbnail :salut:

Thanks John. Bug mystery (semi) solved. For some inexplicable reason you were a member I ‘ignored’.

    Have now ‘un-ignored’ you.

I had a feeling there was something missing in my life... :D

That would certainly help. Nothing beats the control that a manual box gives, although there's no way that I would be swopping my ZF-8 speed - I've become too lazy to think about changing gears. :ROFLMAO:
