Awoke to find the sunniest day for many weeks / months - so decided to give the engine-bay a Springclean.

Four months of salt, grit and many journeys through slush had left the engine-bay a sorry sight.

So out came the AutoGlym Engine & Machine Cleaner - followed by AG Vinyl & Rubber Care.

The plenum area just ahead of the wiper spindles was pretty bad with the black plastic looking grey and mottled due to the effects of salt spray and concentrated screen-wash - easily fixed though with a bit of AG Bumper & Trim Care applied with a 20mm round paintbrush.

    After a two-hour clean-up I'm now a happy bunny.

So I carried on this afternoon and gave my Summer wheels a shine up with AG SRP and a coat of AG Wheel Sealer.

Finished them off with a coat of CarPlan No1 Super-Gloss which I've been trialling on the bodywork - with excellent results so far - traffic film just rinses off easily.

So now we're all ready for a wheel-change when the clocks go forward at the end of the month.

That's it for today - time for VAT.

That's a large Vodka & Tonic by the way. :-D

Good job, well done. You've earned the VAT. (y)

My car had a quick wash yesterday afternoon, after 1100 miles in the last week, driving south and back. Was in a disgusting state. Never lifted the bonnet I'm ashamed to say.

Not the best of weather over here today, dirty again after a few showers while out, including wet snow.

    Here's a couple of pics of the CarPlan No1 Super-Gloss effect - after 6 weeks / 2000 miles.

Only been snowfoamed and rinsed twice in that time 20200310_093609[1].jpg

    20200310_093511[1].jpg

The beads were smaller and tighter together when I first did it, but it's still not bad considering the minimal effort it took.

It says on the bottle that it lasts for a year - I very much doubt that - but it's so easy to apply (wipe on /wipe off) that I couldn't care less if I have to re-apply every couple of months.

Indeed - I have so much free time, I think I'll write a book entitled "Car Detailing for Pensioners".

If it proves as popular as "Fly Fishing" by J. R. Hartley I should make a mint.
