Anyone else stumbled upon their previous cars?

I'm still a semi-active member over on UKSaabs forum, yesterday a chap posted that he'd seen his old car outside Sainsburys, stopped and chatted to the owner. Current owner had had the Saab 9-5 for ten years and the car currently has 280K on the clock! Thought I recognised the car and reg plate, turned out I had sold it to the chap, who posted about seeing the car, back in 2008. Was clearly warming up back then as it had 120K when it left me.

The only other time I've seen an old car was a '92 Escort I'd had. I was camping in St Davids when I saw the car in the field, got chatting to the young couple who owned the car, they were very happy with it. Still had the upgraded Pioneer speakers I'd fitted. What I didn't tell them was that the car had 20K LESS miles on it than when I had sold it two years previously....!

No but tried to find my old Boxster a few times, wish I'd never sold it! Sticking the reg into various sites and nothing found. :-(

In the early 1970's I owned an immaculate Colorado Red Austin Healy 3000 Mk3, with cream leather interior and hood. At the time I was on a limited income as a young graduate engineer, and when the engine started to use oil, I didn't have the funds for a rebuild. I got an offer of £200 more than I had paid for the Healey off the dealer that I bought it from, and sadly sold it. Turned out all it needed was a set of piston rings, otherwise in perfect condition.

Fast forward about 7 or 8 years, and we went out for the day to a traction engine rally near home. I parked up and saw a Healy 3000 parked up. Saw the plate and realised it was my old car. Shockingly, the car was a wreck. It was so filthy and battered, I barely recognised it. The cream interior and hood were brown engrained with dirt, and they were ripped and torn. I felt quite upset that some arsehole had ruined and neglected, what had been a beautiful car. I never saw the owner, which was fortunate, as I would have given him a piece of my mind.

Sometimes it's better not to know.

I saw my old phoenix yellow e46 m3 about a year after I had sold it. Was in my then current newer e46 m3 and much to my kids delight chased it down and had a quick chat with its owner. I still miss both that yellow m3 and its silver grey replacement.

I also saw an Alfa GT I had previously owned. Randomly I was at the same used car dealer looking at another Alfa, I’d had three from them, and my old GT turned up! I was so annoyed when is saw the car, it had been lowered too much, windows tinted, soot pouring out of the exhaust and it stunk of cigarettes. The garage owner wouldn’t take it as PX, turbo was well on its way and he said he would struggle to get it back up to sales standard.

This is what it looked like when I had it:

I have checked previous registrations on MOT checker before to see if old cars are still alive.

I once saw my 535d gestured at the guy that I owned the car, I don't think he knew what I was trying to say and he pulled over with a worried look on his face.

I had a Suzuki Ignis that in the 3 years I had it only needed new brake discs. The MOTs since - mostly failures could each have filled an A4 sheet!

I still see my e91 around - as it lives on the next street. Doesn't do as many miles now as the last MOT only showed 208k miles, although it is due another test this month.

not seen any of my previous cars but I have kept track of a couple via an app.

My previous 2012 320 D ED now passed MOTs since i sold but with various advisories, most recent was advisories due to child seats fitted so not allowing inspection of adult belt. Car has now done 75,252 so since i sold it car has done 13k, 14k and 17k roughly per year since! Someone is hammering that car for sure.... considering i sold it at approx 29.5k miles and it was 4 years old then... Good job it had a good life in the early years aye :) poor car :)

My previous 2006 focus i sold at approx 34k miles, since then it has now done 91.4k miles! However my app shows no tax info for some reason, so unsure if its still on the road or not, MOT valid till Oct this year so have to see if it gets new MOT.

Parked my bike up in a car park in the lake district one day, came back to find two other bikes next to it, one being the bike I traded in to buy the bike I was riding. Hung around but the owner didnt come back before I had to leave

I found a previous MINI of mine once on eBay. In fact as I missed it so much I purchased it back!

It had been well taken care of too, it was over average mileage when I sold it and as the owner didn’t use that much, was below average mileage when I got it back. He also put 4 brand new premium brand tyres on and had done an interim oil change.

Once going to a scrapper in late 80'S for a part on an Escort i think, i saw my old mans Capri MK1. I bought the reg plates off it for 50p and gave them to him (although its a private reg and it was transferred to his new car and my mum still has it registered). Its still up on the wall in her study.

i'd love to see where my old 5 and 7 series are. Trouble is that most people stick a private plate on then they get lost in the system.

I had a MK 2 G reg Golf GTI, from 1992 to 1996. Kept it totally standard and in good nick.in 1996...

Traded it in for a Mark 3...big mistake.

I was living in Bradford at the time and the Mk2 was traded in in Barnsley.

Yet it ended up in Bradford again, used to see it about quite a bit in the area I worked.

Last time i saw it somebody had ruined it by lowering it, smoothing the body work removing locks etc and putting in a sound system.

It's not been taxed or mot d for years now. Presume its RIP

Assume my previous 335i went to either Ireland or Isle of Man, Export marker showing now... admittedly it could be anywhere other than the UK!

I checked MOT history on my old Austin Healey 3000 Mk3 (see post above), and it's still around.
Currently on 92k miles. I just hope that it's in better condition than when I last saw it. :)
