Oddly enough, I like that..... We’re (I’m) looking at motorhomes oddly enough When the Audi goes back to Audi (Leased) we’re (I’m) hoping we (I) move up to a slightly bigger happy medium car allowing us (I) to come down to medium sized car & trade the Merc in for a motorhome However I’m more than sure, the royal we (her) will curb all man (my) thoughts.........
I would take the i8 and forget the motorhome, and use that cash for the odd 4 / 5 star hotel. Much more comfortable, and a lot more fun driving.
Anyone else spot the problem with that setup? The i8 has semi gull-wing doors, so unless that platform comes out a lot farther, you'd have to go in the passenger door and clamber across the centre console to reach the driver's seat - assuming you live on ze Continent, of course. A pal shared @snrbrtsn's dream and bought a c/van when he retired, he sold it after one season and went back to a caravan. In his words...."Well, I got it out of my system".
Not sure I'd fancy maneuvering an i8 into that space, as it looks like the platform doesn't come out far enough to allow 'drive on/off'? [We have to assume that's not fully extended.......Google would indicate it isn't]
I’ve seen those before but usually with 911s on board like the last pic. Not for me, personally. Prefer smaller vans which you can get out into the wild with. Those are fine for continental Europe where there’s more space, but touring the UK would be very difficult. Each to their own, but the argument about hotels vs motorhomes doesn’t really work. It’s a lifestyle thing which you either get or you don’t. There’s very little financial case to be made for a motorhome or caravan. I personally wouldn’t swap mine for a raft of five star hotels even though I would be a far richer man as a result. It’s a way of life which I like. But even I have to concede at some point that mine isn’t getting used nearly enough to justify all the fixed costs and at some point she’ll be on the market. But it will be a very sad day indeed.
That’s when girlfriend starts heading to wife.... A slippery slope.. in some People’s opinion.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It wouldn't make much difference how far the platform slid out if an i8 was sitting on it. You can't get into the bloody thing, even with the doors open.
You have a point, Harry - but Jezza managed somehow [although we never actually saw how many shoe horns were involved ]
