Saw two disguised F-Paces in Durham city today. I think Durham constabulary have their patrol cars at a base nearby, so wondered if the police have a couple on trial?
    Any thoughts?

Believe Durham Police HQ is still just outside town centre but very much doubt these disguised cars are on trial with the Police.
In my 30 years service we never got "disguised cars" we got mainstream cars....some my have been covert / unmarked but never did we get a brand new model that had been disguised.
Generally Police cars fall into two categories....marked and made as conspicuous as possible...so why use a disguised F Pace in this role OR unmarked and inconspicuous....why use a car that would draw attention to itself.
Possibly they were being tested on some of the quieter roads in Northumbria and Scottish borders .

If just seemed a bit strange to see two of them in Durham centre when the nearest Jaguar garage is about 10 miles away. Like you said it is unlikley that the Police would get a prototype to play with:)

This is what they both looked like.

I would guess they were on some form of road test / evaluation / mileage accumulation from the factory. In addition to my earlier comments i am not sur that Jaguar feature on the "approved" list of high performance vehicles for many forces now - many forces in the country are tied to a procurement system that only has a limited number of suppliers. My ex force having run Vauxhalls as beat cars for years are now changing to Peugots....the high performance deal had already moved Volvo / Vauxhall / Range Rover to BMW

I just LOVE the paint job of these pre-production road test cars - I want it on my new 330D.

Team, that's not the F Pace. It's already been released so why disguise it.
More likley to be the new mid Range Rover to fit between Vogue and Evoque.

    Kindest Regards
    Carl.

You're just going to have to trust me on this one. (I've said too much already!)

    Kindest Regards
    Carl.

I am pretty sure they were F-Paces, they had the big front grill.
Do tell more Carl about what you know:)

If this is the Jaguar 4 x 4 we're talking about, I saw five yesterday with normal paint finishes but on trade plates.
I regularly travel the Cirencester road and or Banbury road to Oxford from the M40 which takes me past the Landrover Jag place at Gaydon.
I think I saw the first one about six months ago and always see them on this stretch of my journey.
    Are they on sale yet?

They are orderable now yes. Not sure they've rolled off the production line yet though. They are lovely.

I spotted one of these last month at the Evesham junction on the M5. As far as SUV's go, I think they're really nice.
