Yes 12.8 or 9 not sure but they now handle the money not paypal.
I sell on there but only when i get an offer from them with 70 or 80% off seller fees.

Spooky, overnight I had a 70% offer given, looking at the T&C's looks to qualify so have tried it on there :)

I sold the Winter wheels for my Cayenne on there and got properly stung on fees.

I’ll be looking closely at my options when I flog the F11 wheels l have knocking around.

I got the 70% off email as well yesterday morning.
Just click accept or whatever it says i did but not sure if i will be listing anything.
It used to be a "pay only £1 max selling fees" offer then 80% off and now down to 70% but still better than the full 12.8%.

There are other platform options (gumtree, shpock, preloved, Facebook market etc), but from past experience there tend to be more scammers or timewasters offering some stupid amounts!

Only good thing with eBay is it can be a bit more controlled, for example adjust 'Best Offer' threshold and also review previous feedback history and length of account (unless of course it's been hacked)!

I’ve (sorry the wife’s had) great success selling on Facebook, once the drivel is siphoned we often sell items very quickly - if not too quick!
    Perhaps selling too cheaply!
Before Christmas I did buy off Facebook and got royally fleeced (good and proper) a considerable expense I tried to claim off PayPal with no joy though claimed through section 72/75 from my bank with success and received all monies back!
So I guess taking this route you have to be careful when both selling and buying, ensuring if you sell via this route you arrange signed for delivery and track the postage to delivery

Good news you were able to get your money back. Out of interest was it friend/family payment (hence PayPal not refunding you)?

My mum sells loads, always has better luck than I do. My theory is that female profile accounts are better trusted.

Ha - yes I foolishly went friends and family
Look back now I shouldn’t have and knew I shouldn’t have - quietly and foolishly lured in
I thought I was smart - now know I’m no different and every bit as susceptible as the next person and yes I felt a d1ck!

I have been tempted to buy on fb but see so many people that have been scammed put's me off buying.
I might buy if local and i could collect or even sell if buyer could collect.

It can happen to anyone, the back up was luckily your Bank or Credit card provider (Credit I presume based on it being Section 75) :)

    It is section 75
Though not many are aware of the protection.
I deliberately have my visa debit account on PayPal for that reason, just didn’t think I’d ever have to rely on it!
It’s a gut wrenching, horrible feeling being scammed, even with the knowledge of section 75.
Though realistically only knew about it by “being scammed” on eBay for a set of E60 wheels many years ag, from a seller in Germany, though I did end up in receipt of double refund which I had to raise with the bank!

Be extremely careful selling anything on eBay as buyers can claim they haven’t received it or there is a fault with the item and claim their money back and then claim it’s been lost in the post

Well I think I’ve circumvented some eBay fees.

Had numerous enquiries in my item as well as some best offer submissions.

I replied declining saying too low for on here. And also advertised elsewhere so may end auction early.

One guy picked up on that and messaged me through Gumtree (yes I know eBay own Gumtree). A quick phone call and a few messages and £50 deposit received.

All for total cost of £3.99 to make it a featured advert.

Yep puts me right off selling low value items. It gets eaten up in the fees. and having to pay for signed on delivery postage!

eBay also like to dictate to you how much you should charge in said postal service you choose!
