I dont use wax at the moment
the Autoglym extra gloss protection is a synthetic sealant and the Autoglym HD Wax is a Carnauba paste wax so what is better a sealant or a wax?

wax used to be seen as old school and did not last but the new generation waxes are changing all that, the waxes from the 70,s and 80,s turtle wax being one that springs to mind were bloody hard work, we used to slap a thick layer of wax all over our paintwork leave it to set hard and then try and buff it off and two hours later and you have biceps that popeye would be proud of and you think why did i ever start that, and a couple of washes later the wax was gone and you had to start all over again, but the new waxes like the HD wax here are offering long lasting protection equal to that of an entry level sealant and if used correctly they are easy to use, the biggest mistake people make with wax is applying to much leaving it to cure and then struggling to get it off the panel, surely the more i get on the better the protection right, no that is wrong and with wax use the sponge applicator and one wipe of the wax pot is enough to do half a panel leave to flash off and buff off and if you want more on then add a second layer over the top

some people will add a wax layer over a sealant but i think that is a waste of time and you should decide what is right for you and use one or the other

Autoglym HD Wax is pretty good stuff , I usually use it as a Summer Wax and that EBay deal is a brilliant Bargain at that price . I ve still got an unopened one in the garage when Halfords had a BOGOF deal a few years back. and it was £40+ then , It s pretty easy stuff to use too , and as Mach One says , a Wax can be used on top of a Sealant if you so desire, I do this for Winter Protection, but with Collinite Marque De Elegance . Just make sure the Red Applicator is Damp when applying , the Red Buffing Cloths are pretty good quality too. Everybody has their own favourite detailing preferences regarding, Polish , Sealants, Wax etc, and some of us have too many preferences , but you ll not go far wrong with this stuff, especially at that price .

when i was in Halfords recently they were selling the Autoglym HD wax off at £25.00 a pop, I think most of it has gone now and is sold out online but still a limited amount of stock in some stores

many do use a wax over sealant but i see it as extra work for little reward, when i was using sealants either AG extra gloss protection or a Nano tech hard wax sealant i used to apply twice a year and then when i washed the car i went over it with a quick detailing spray to add a little top up protection the two that i favored were Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer or Meguiars last touch with the first one being the weapon of choice

i have not used any type of paste wax on my car for the last 20 years or so, but looking at the new breed high carnauba content waxes that are on the market now they are miles better than any of the waxes that i used many moons ago, but at the moment i have C Quartz ceramic on my car so will not be trying any paste wax anytime soon

I am sure you will be pleased with the results it is a great product and as said that is a good price, it is still selling on some of the detailing websites at £44.00, I know somebody that has ceramic on there car and really misses getting hands on and applying wax, i know that will sound sad and you always say there is better things to spent time on than cleaning cars but some do find it therapeutic

I don't mind it now and again, but my daughter rides and I have to take her to the stables through mud twice a week, so the car is functional rather than a show piece at present.

I've no idea, as I've never used EGP, which I assume is a sealant with polymers?
I've always used a carnauba wax on my cars and HD wax does last a long time - at least 6 months.

The secret to applying HD Wax is only to apply a thin coat and use the sponge applicator wet (squeezed out). it will then buff off easily once dry. Many people make the mistake of trying to put a thicker layer on, and then find it diffult to polish off. Just remember that a little HD Wax goes a long way. ;)

:cautious:I don't know whether anyone else has bought Autoglym HD Wax from this seller, but mine has still not arrived after nearly 2 weeks. So I'm starting to be a little suspicious. If it does turn out to be a bogus offer, then I will feel a right idiot for posting the original thread. But I did check out his feedback prior to placing the order and everything seemed OK - at the time he had 99% rating and he had sold several Autoglym HD Wax kits previously with +ve comments.

I did contact the seller when the parcel hadn't arrived by the final date, and he sent a reply saying that it had been lost by the courier, and would send another immediately. So there's a chance that it may arrive yet.

Up to today his Ebay page shows that he has sold 59 of these and has another 9 left, which seems rather a lot.

I thought that I had better give everyone the heads up just in case. Apologies if any of you are in the same position. :(

You ll probably be safe enough, Ebay are very strict with their Sellers regarding this and it s just not worth it to a Seller to be banned for this kind of thing . I had this years ago with MAF Cleaner which did nt arrive , I messaged the Seller who said he d dispatch another to me right away, which he did and I received . A few days after receiving the second dispatched one , lo and behold the first one was delivered so I ended up with two, so you never know , you might just end up with two as well .;)

I've been using Ebay for more than 10 years and have never had any problems in more than 400 deals. I always check a seller's feedback.
So I'm not concerned as Ebay has guarantees in place. It could be that the seller is just a bit slap dash. I'll wait another week before raising an Ebay request.

I just thought it best to give everyone the 'heads up' just in case.

I believe AG has moved to the Ultra Hd range for 2018, so perhaps revised the formulation to make it less dusty!
Though does seem a bargain price!

Just an update - Having checked the seller's current feedback, the Ebay page is now full of RED negative comments with numerous buyers stating that "Item not receieved". So it's now evident that this was a fraudulent transaction, along with other items he was selling.

I started an Ebay request 'Item not received' 8 days ago, and have just contacted Ebay Resolution Centre and will receive a full refund within 48 hours.
So any more unfortunate forum members should do the same and you will get your money back.

Apologies again for any hassle caused. :(
