    Just back from crossing the Romanian border to Bulgaria!
    Sadly no pictures however, we counted 27 people disembarking from a very much clapped out VW t4, whilst I'm sure it's / was perfectly legitimate :whistle:
    It makes me doubt how my family of 3 wouldn't manage with a camper conversion / California for several days a year, having always thought they were too small.

    I hope they have all the delays and diversions cleared up soon.

    I'm going to be on a ferry Tuesday afternoon - hopefully.

    I see that 'Port of Dover' are still advising to allow 90 minutes to clear the 'Buffer Zone' and passports.

    Oh, the joys of travel. - not quite the Freude am Fahren that I was looking forward to.

    Aye, a veritable cornucopia of knowledge on virtually any subject. :D

    But don't knock it, I'm teaching myself MIG, TIG and ARC welding and am find the advice and, probably more importantly, encouragement from the lads there invaluable. (y) :cool:

    We took the ferry from Dover late last Thursday morning. No cues. No delays.

    EDIT
    And no signs of a 'buffer zone'.
    Hopefully others will have similar experiences.

    @Singvogel

    Sorry Bob, you seen page 16 of today's "Depressing Journal" ? :(

    Any chance you can get on a crossing from a different port? :cry:

    We don't have much choice - we have a season ticket.

    According to Kent County Council the closure of the M20 is only up to 06.00 on 5th September - so it should be clear by the afternoon.

    Here's hoping anyway.

    @Singvogel

    I was talking about the proposed rolling roadblock on the French side on Monday, when all main roads into Calais will be blocked, and the A16 from Bolougne and Dunkirk will be subject to the rolling r/block, with more than 60 trucks and 100 agricultural vehicles taking part....... :( :(

    They're protesting against the failure of the French Gov to make a start on demolishing the northern section of the migrants camp.

    Hopefully your route will enable you to avoid the chaos? [BIG [IMG] ] - although I'd imagine itll likely affect the UK side ferry-wise too............:cautious: :cry:

    Hopefully that'll all be over by Tuesday late afternoon as well.

    My fingers are crossed too. ;)

    Ah yes - plenty football up here - much closer to my home than Aberdeen.

    In the metropolis of the North East (that's Turriff by the way) the local team of part time amateurs are playing Hibernian tomorrow in the Irn-Bru Cup-Tie - it's even going to be live on Sky Sports - event of the decade up here.

    Can't see Turriff United winning though. :( :p

    We are now in a hotel in Lille after the most uneventful journey South and ferry crossing that I can remember in a very long time.

    Straight into Dover - no queues this afternoon at 13.50 when we arrived for the French 'enhanced' upgraded, intensified security checks. :rolleyes:

    I handed over our passports to a French mademoiselle in the kiosk - she handed them straight back without opening them and asked "Could you lower your rear window a bit, please?"

    The rear of the car was loaded to head-rest level and covered with a black sheet - but she immediately said "OK, carry on."

    We were booked on the 15.40 - this was me allowing the 90 minutes that P&O say to allow for the 'Port Formalities'.

    So we trundled along to the P&O check-in to be asked - "Would you like to cross a bit early?" - as if we were going to say 'No, no, - it's quite OK we'll park up and wait for a couple of hours'.

    So all went well and we saw more members of the French security forces than migrants.

    I hope that this continues and all the problems are a thing of the past - but somehow I think they will return at some point - probably in time for the mid-term school beak and Xmas holidays - yup I'm an old cynic - experience has made me this way. ;)

    Did the tunnel one way to France couple of weeks back. Midweek 10.30am departure. Quiet, no drama. Passport queue very short. Arrived a little early and got put on an earlier train for free this time with my gypy ticket rather than a random 7 pound or whatever charge. Quick out of Calais too. One happy customer.

    Hope that helps someone.
