    Hi,

I have recently purchased a 330d. When unlocking the car using the fob the mechanism makes a loud clunk 2 or 3 times. Is this normal or is the actuator on its way out?
    TIA

    Hello.
What year and model is the 330d? E46/90/F30 etc.
My experience of two E9x and one F30 models is one distinct clunk when unlocking.
Does it unlock on the first clunk or take 2/3 to open? Do the doors open in a different order or at the same time?

Its a 2015. F31 (I believe). It is unlocking first time. Just the drivers side lock make the cluck 2 times when unlocking. Just not sure if thats normal as it doesn’t seem as smooth as you would expect from BMW.
I have tried the settings with drivers door only and all doors with same result.

This is the drivers side when unlocked and seems to sit at the same hight as when locked. The difference is obvious compared to the other three locks.

There's something amiss there, all should 'pop up' to the same level.

It does sound like the locking mechanism might be faulty. The locking pin is on a metal rod so unless the rod is faulty (extremely unlikely) then my money's on the locking mechanism.

Does it do it every time? Could be that the door card has been off and the rod bent causing it to be angled in the door card making it tight. If it does it every time take the door card off then test it, if it still does it then chances are it’s the lock. Can you make a video of it with sound?

I think you're going to need to pop the door card off and have a look. I think something is sticking in the mechanism.

Thanks for the reply’s. I have only had the car a few days, so I contact the garage and they will sort it for me.

Now to pick mats etc and decide how I want to personalise the car! 258DDDA1-BF1A-4FFE-AF49-B6F55F5862F3.jpeg
