Does anyone know how to get the speed limit sign on the dash, it shows the speed limit of the road you are driving on? I test drove a 2015 car and this feature was on the dash but a week later I can't get the symbol up again. I think it has something to do with speed limit info, but even after reading the manual I think I have all the options ticked in the car settings but it no longer appears. Any ideas how to activate the function?

Here is a link to show the speed sign on the dash.

press the end of the indicator stalk to scroll through the options until it appears. Do you have HUD?

The reason I asked about HUD is that the speed limit would be displayed on the windscreen but there is a box to tick in the idrive to make that happen.

Good point, I run the speed limit display in HUD, makes sense to have it with the digital road speed display.

Does this happen a sdefault on cars or is it something 'extra'. I pressed the indicator stalk and didn't get the max speed sign??

Not sure if its still an extra , we have it on the X1 [March 2018 xLine xDrive ]and just found that if pressing on the end of the stalk you can also get a Temp Gauge (one push shows temp OK but leave pressure it comes up with a gauge.)

Yes, you need the hardware, you have to have the KAFAS camera at the top of the screen.

Yes same camera as used by HBA (High Beam Assistant), also used by ACC and Lane Departure.

How can I check if I have this camera? I’m sure I have ACC and HBA. When I’m driving the lights are always around as cars approach

And as I mentioned many moons ago, this feature comes free with Garmin, TomTom, and others; it's built in to the mapping. BMW are actually charging you for not removing it. In some circumstances it may not be as accurate as when combined with camera data, but most of the time it's fine.

Anyway they can find to make money. It's a wonder they don't charge extra for decent suspension, decent lights, decent seat leather, decent seat adjustment, decent mirrors....

Our new X1 does not have HBA so I wonder if it can be coded in ,or retro fitted.
    Our previous X1 (e84) had
adaptive zenons ,which included HBA but our new X1 does not have it fitted.
I find the new LEC lights are not as good as the previous xenons

Reference @Highsided comments BMW have charged extra for decent lights for many years.
The standard lights on my e61 were on a par with a series 1 LandRover.

Always been the BMW way, at least we have more kit these days as standard, than years ago. I suppose we are the mugs for getting hooked on all the extras.

It is up behind the rear view mirror, can see it next to the auto sensor for the wipers.

I agree Peter. But they are like crack dealers. They tempt you in and get you hooked on the little gizmos. The should be renamed Lunchtime Destroyers!! I spend most of mine in the car trying to work it out!!
