Hi guys, now i've started i cant stop...

Ok, got another battery and when i looked at the old one it has some plastic/electronic stuff on top, I have a 3 page instruction to change the battery but it doesn't actually say what the bits are?

    Any ideas?

Do you mean the black plastic module that includes the positive terminal at one side and the other has a few red battery cables to it?
If so I forget it’s name, something like battery distribution box but it’s just the various feeds from the battery. It unclips off the top once the terminal is loosened.

Correct, the battery distribution box sits on the positive terminal, mine was red in colour. The IBS sensor is on the negative terminal + should have it's own small power wire running to the distribution box. The both should slip off quite easily after loosening the nut.

It's just occurred to me that you have an E93, good luck with changing the battery is all I will say lol. That battery distribution box will not be your friend that's for sure as its hard to get out of the way while you lift the heavy battery, at an awkward angle through a gap not much bigger than the battery itself. Don't be afraid of disconnecting some of the powers and also the connection across to the IBS sensor to help you get it more out of the way.

Well i managed to get the battery out and the new one in withtrouble, the most i had was the with the weight of the BMW battery, my god! that was heavy!! Anyway all went back together no problem, how ever, a lot has been written about the registration and/or coding of the new battery, what i would like to know is should there be a warning/reminder in the i drive/display about getting it done?

    Cheers guys

No, the car won't know the batttery's been changed so you'll need to get it registered.

Thinking about it, if it did know, we wouldn't need to register it manually. :p
