It was parked at the very back of the car park of the outlet village so as to reduce the possibility of anyone parking next to it. I got there first thing and left at 5pm, had a nice meal in Giraffe too.

You’re like me, I got to the Defence Academy today and the only space in this particular car park was between a Discovery and a Nissan something or other. Parked in another car park that meant I had to walk an extra two mins but hey.

The Macan has been back to the garage for the last two days having a new transfer box. Sorted now and very good service from Porsche Guildford, all covered by the warranty.
I had a Cayenne loaner which was huge but quick with many extras, £82k worth of SUV, didn’t like it that much though.

So that is gearbox repairs and transfer box replaced already? It might be good service and a nice loan car but it doesn’t reflect well on Porsche quality...

It certainly sounds like a common problem. Reading the post on the link above, @Spuffington 's Porsche has had 2 transfer boxes in 34k miles.
If I was ever tempted to switch to a Porker, an extended warranty included in a deal would be essential. Without one, any buyer could face a massive bill.

I think if ever I was tempted/lucky enough to buy an expensive Porsche, I'd settle for a RWD 911. Lottery winnings on Friday was £3.10, try again on Tuesday!

Just remembered my knees aint so good so maybe not....:D

Makes me wonder what's happened to German engineering?

To be fair there was nothing actually wrong with the car, I just noticed a couple of times that the rear wheels were skipping as if the diff wasn’t working properly. I read up on it and it seems that my car was built on the cusp of the updated transfer box (Oct 16), so for peace of mind I booked it in to be checked, Porsche already had the parts ordered and the job was done very swiftly.
It seems a common failure at 2 to 3 years old and 15 to 20 thousand miles. Anyhow, I now have the updated part so it shouldn’t happen again. Like I say there was nothing essentially wrong with it but worth doing as it cost me nothing.

As for the Cayenne, I don’t really see the attraction. It had an 8 speed ZF instead of my PDK, and I much prefer the PDK. My wife said the inside of the doors and the centre console had disabled handles as that what they looked like. Not really sporty either, more wallowy (if that’s a word). And even though it was a 2.9 petrol it sounded nothing like my diesel with its hooligan sports exhaust.

Still loving the car, even more now I have no transfer box worries.

Yes, totally agree. Strangely the warranty is much cheaper than BMW.

I've never actually heard the PSE on a diesel Macan, heard it on the GTS which was predictably great. Any chance you could post up a short clip? Really interested to hear what it sounds like.

Yeah, nearly as bad as two EGR coolers on a three year old car!

I tried before with my phone, but it didn’t really capture it. Next time you come to Heathrow I’ll give you a go.

    Bit of trivia for you.

VW ag owns Porsche ag, but Porsche SE owns VW ag :rotate:

Something to do with no family members on the Porsche ag or VW ag board or something. (so I was told)

That's a positive, and peace of mind that you're covered, and you can just enjoy driving that Porker without any worries. (y)
