I doubt it Ian. It’s still a fantastic car, especially comparing it to the Q5 which is similar price but nowhere near as good.

I’m not a fan really, prefer conventional dials. It is very glitzy though.

We are told it had a bad oil leak, but there is no oil on my driveway whatsoever

Good :). I have not been in a Macan but your looks very good. Was looking back at some old paper work last weekend and realised this year is my 25th year of Porsche ownership.. feeling even older now!

    Sorry, only just seeing this.

Obviously watching with interest. I had the transfer box replaced last year - that is a well known issue but never heard of any issues with the PDK boxes.

Good luck with getting it resolved.

Excellent news! Presume Porsche have picked up the tab for a new PDK box?

It turns out that mine had the later updated transmission already, so Porsche would only authorise a repair of the oil leak. If it had have been the earlier part number they would have replaced it. So only a new gasket in the end.

That should give you peace of mind that it's as simple as a replacement gasket. (y)

Did they say anything about the problems with the previous gen gearbox? I have my suspicions sometimes that all is not well with mine. There's a lot of shunting / sluggishness sometimes in selecting a gear when not in Sport mode and seems to be getting worse.

Not so as I have just been informed that the gasket did not arrive and I now have the dreaded Q5 until Monday when hopefully my Macan will be ready.

No, but looking at Google and the forums there doesn't seem to be that many problems with the earlier gearbox, just the transfer box. I got the impression that the earlier one was prone to leaking/cracking, but nothing actually to do with the functionality.

Oh Poop! im surprised you say the Q5 is so bad... Is the comment in comparison to the Macan or is it a statement ?

In comparison to the Macan and even my old 5GT it is bad. Looking at the on line configurator it only seems to have one extra, B&O HiFi upgrade, everything else is basic. I think with these cars you have to stick £10k of extras on them before they become what they should be, but even that wouldn’t help the hard scratchy plastic glove box door. I also hate the engine note, especially when it’s cold - it’s like a tractor. The wheels are tiny, but the ride is awful, the climate control takes a degree to figure out and the front seats are like slabs of plywood.
It’s probably not fair that I’m comparing a £41k Audi to a £70k Porsche and a £57k BMW before that, but all I keep thinking is that this Audi cost new what my two year old Porsche cost. I know what I would sooner have.

I was so looking forwards to getting the Macan back today, I’ve never been like that with any other car.

I’ve had it back for nearly two weeks now and it’s bliss. Been to Swindon and back shopping today, did 140 miles with the cruise set just above 70mph and I achieved 41mpg, not brilliant but good all the same. I’m happy with that considering some of the journey was stop start traffic through Swindon. My 535d GT would have done slightly better, but negligible really.
I enjoy every second of this car, even listening to it rumbling away at idle with the sports exhaust on is a joy.

I drove past Swindon today (back for a couple of weeks) didn’t see you! 41mpg though, that’s not bad!
