Super result Ian. Soon you’ll be able to fully enjoy that wonderful vehicle of yours without any worries.
Great result. Really impressed with Cazoo to be fair, I did expect an offer of part payment, thankfully excellent service so far. Fingers crossed it continues. I’ve been doing some research as to my next car, spring 2023, a Macan Turbo has come up a few times…….
Honestly, try one. You will not be disappointed. I wouldn’t rule out an S or GTS. They’re still very quick indeed.
The Turbo is great, but the fuel consumption is shocking. My GTS will only return 22mpg on a good day, I'm spending £100 per 215 miles at present on fuel alone. You will need shares in BP to run a turbo and they are not really any quicker in reality. Plus the GTS gets the better suspension As spuff says, do not rule out the S, post 2019 models have 350bhp, almost as much as the gen 1 GTS.
22mpg……gulp. I know we don’t buy these cars for economy purposes, but that would pinch. The 440 is averaging 34.8mpg over the past 12K miles. Not too bad for a 326bhp 450Nm (according to BMWs figures) petrol, and I do enjoy the power regularly. Looking at the GTS figures v weight I’d worry that I’d be losing quite a bit of the bhp per tonne. However, worth a test drive and deeper look. Great looking cars. And that’s me with my deep seated relative dislike (edited!) of SUVs speaking…. apologies for hijacking this thread.
Sorry for the slow update, I have a new job and have been travelling a lot, hence the Porsche has only done 3K miles in 6 months. Anyhow, after a false start where the Porsche dealer had messed up the booking I had to wait until the end of March to get it sorted. It was fixed but Porsche said it needed a new battery before they would issue the warranty. I complained to Cazoo again as the battery was actually Ford branded and Porsche did not like that! In the end Cazoo paid for the engine work and a new Porsche branded battery (£510), I paid £1585 for two years warranty and Porsche assist and everyone's happy. I have now had no issues in 7 weeks, which is an achievement for a Porsche! Lest hope it continues. Its a truly fabulous car and I absolutely love it. I hope you guys are all well and looking forward to the summer. Ian
Jeez ohh!!! Just caught up with this story, what a nightmare and a half!! Hopefully now all sorted and no more hassle, great your love for the car continues too!
Yes, no further issues (touching wood). Great car and now on 30k miles, still love it even though it absolutely drinks fuel!
Oh, what do you get to the gallon? I'm getting 220 miles to £110 of fuel at £1.82/litre. According to Google thats 13.3 gallons, so 16.5 to the gallon
Car still getting run in. Once ‘run in’ service is done we’ll probably have a better idea. Currently driving like Miss Daisy and getting 23.4. Not bad I think? Never driven in Eco mode yet.
Do modern 'running in' techniques differ from the 'olde stylee' ones I and my contemporaries used to use? Iirc it was recommended to vary rev use briefly across the whole range to prevent bore glazing. Maybe some of our 'more mature' Members like me can confirm or otherwise? @Peter?
Sounds like the same ‘run in’ that we’re doing, just trying to very revs as much as possible, until service is done and run in oil is removed.
When I was working our Plant Manager always maintained the worst thing to do to a new engine was Cruise Control on the motorway.
Glad it’s worked out for you, Ian. You must be driving it pretty hard/short distances to be getting that kind of average. I used to get that when I was properly “on it” in Sports Plus but rarely found that a relaxing way to travel. My long term average was 22mpg with most of the local runs being 19-20mpg with fun mixed in. Enjoy! Miss mine a lot. The MacanS was far better than the Cayenne GTS and would happily step back into one (or a GTS like yours) without a second thought.
