Broken front spring on E61 (lucky escape)

I had the same on my E91 about 18 months ago, just went over a small bump as I left work and it went, my garage said that it was a regular problem not just with BM's but all sorts of vehicles, their best guess is the use of inferior materials even on original manufacturer parts
