    I haven't seen this kind of frosting on the car for years.

    High humidity and minus 6 degrees produced this:

    Now that is a pretty serious frost I am glad it wasn't like that around Wales as I was on the road just after.6.00am and the thought of clearing that first thing is not my idea of fun

    As I was in the car listening to the radio they said there was a temperature difference of 19 Degrees across the country today with minus 9 in the far north and plus 10 in the far south, I am glad it was plus 3 with us as I set off so no ice to clear

    .
    Don't often see that amount of frosting. We had a night like that a couple of weeks ago, thought we'd had a bit of snow. Very unusual type of frosting, even for over here, where we get quite a few cold and high humidity nights.

    Forecast suggests we will see a huge temperature swing overnight. Shirt sleeve weather tomorrow. (y)

    Well I can tell you it definitely was not ten in London today, nearly froze my balls off on my bike this morning. The puddles were frozen solid, so I would assume it to be less than 0 degrees.

    Definitely no shirt sleeves for me tomorrow.

    No kilt either despite it being Burn's Day and we're having guests to share the haggis.

    This frosty weather reminds me of a story that old Uncle Arthur told Del-boy.

    "When I was on the Artic Convoys ...........zzzzzzzzzzz

    We had about 2" of lying snow here - snowed again during the night which added another 1". I'd covered the screen because I had a hospital clinic today - removed the [Lidl] cover and had a completely clear screen.

    When I left at 6.45am I debated on whether to take the Struie road which can be very bad in Winter. Took a chance, and about half way across encountered black roads - all the way to Inverness! Didn't discount the possibility of ice, of course, but I am very impressed with the performance of the Winter rubber. :1:

    Have a wee dram along with the Great Chieftain o’ the Puddin-race! (y)

    Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
    Great Chieftain o’ the Puddin-race!
    Aboon them a’ ye tak your place,
    Painch, tripe, or thairm:
    Weel are ye wordy of a grace
    As lang ‘s my arm.

    The groaning trencher there ye fill,
    Your hurdies like a distant hill,
    Your pin wad help to mend a mill
    In time o’ need,
    While thro’ your pores the dews distil
    Like amber bead.

    His knife see Rustic-labour dight,
    An’ cut ye up wi’ ready slight,
    Trenching your gushing entrails bright,
    Like onie ditch;
    And then, O what a glorious sight
    Warm-reekin, rich!

    Then, horn for horn, they stretch an’ strive:
    Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive,
    Till a’ their weel-swall’d kytes belyve
    Are bent like drums;
    Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive,
    Bethankit hums.

    Is there that owre his French ragout,
    Or olio that wad staw a sow,
    Or fricassee wad mak her spew
    Wi’ perfect sconner,
    Looks down wi’ sneering, scornfu’ view
    On sic a dinner?

    Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
    As feckless as a wither’d rash,
    His spindle shank a guid whip-lash,
    His nieve a nit;
    Thro’ bluidy flood or field to dash,
    O how unfit!

    But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
    The trembling earth resounds his tread,
    Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
    He’ll make it whissle;
    An’ legs, an’ arms, an’ heads will sned,
    Like taps o’ thrissle.

    Ye Pow’rs wha mak mankind your care,
    And dish them out their bill o’ fare,
    Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
    That jaups in luggies;
    But, if ye wish her gratefu’ prayer,
    Gie her a Haggis!
