Partly because I fancied a change, partly because of growing kids, costs of uni, and doing shed loads of motorway miles where comfy seats were more important than the ultimate drivers car...

But now the kids just about look after themselves, I work in London and commute by train so my main car is more for refined fun than anything, and my wife sadly passed away so I don’t have anyone telling me not to waste my money on cars...

So I got a new BMW to replace my 2017 SQ5 petrol. It’s not bad...

Thanks - I am not the first and I won’t be the last sadly.

Every time I drive the M5 I will think of her... she would so not approve (she liked nice cars but she wanted them to look expensive!).

Whats the exact spec? HUD? Sat nav pro? Is it Black or Grey? 1 pic looks grey, others look Black :)

It is singapore grey - grey when next to black, black when next to grey! But colour options on cars that didn’t have a very lengthy options list were limited - so grey it was, and a ceramic coating to limitthe swirls shortly!

It’s standard spec with the following options

    Comfort pack
    Driver assistance pack
    M striped seatbelts
    M sport exhaust

It had hud, professional sat nav, blind spot monitoring, active cruise control, comfort access, 360 degree cameras, and a load of other stuff I haven’t explored yet. Full black merino leather.

    And 600ps... :)

Yes, same guys did the Audi, think they use Gtechniq crystal serum light... with annual top ups that should keep it looking good. Should be done in about 6 weeks - giving me time to drive it and get it dirty first!

Ok, let me rephrase, she would have wanted a badge not a car! Maybe RRS, probably a Porsche - not a 5 series where all the money is spent on stuff no one can see!

Bless her, the most down to earth and generous person - probably one reason why I couldn’t afford it before!

Wow, very nice. Many of us are jumping ship at present, so nice to see someone returning to BMW. I just had my Macan ceramic coated in Gtechiq at Mulgari in Bracknell, where are you based?

Welcome and well done on your M5! (y)

It looks fantastic but it was probably even more expensive than it looks. :thumright: :)

    What a car! (y)

How's the new car bedding in? Now that you have had it a few days.
