Anyone use it? With the Pony outside the house every now and then paranoia is starting to set in so considering an Amazon Ring but have no experience of them. Don't want to go all Fort Knox on the house but some kind of monitoring would be reassuring.

We’ve had one of these since I bought the F32, Mrs W slightly paranoid as to any undue attention etc.
The overall feedback is positive, it has a good camera, easily set up, plenty of user defined settings etc. The app is good, links up reasonably quickly, dependent upon signal strength if you are away from home though.
The optional internal bell absolutely does my head in though, chimes away all the time. I’d happily do away with this option.
Here are a few screen shots of the product in action, showing how it shares recent notifications and a “live” view of the drive. Note the good wide angle of the camera, you can zoom in and it retains some decent detail.

Battery life is very good, lasts approx 5-6 weeks from one charge.

Cheers, I was about to ask how it was powered. Is there more than one type of Ring, any particular one you would recommend?

I bought the Ring Doorbell 2, think it was £89 and then the internal sounder another £25 or so. You can buy an upgrade on this one, but I couldn’t see the need. They also do just camera, lights with cameras etc. Preferred this one as it doubles as a remote answer system.
The battery is rechargeable but you can hardwire them in with an additional kit.

Hooking it up to Alexa might just send me over the edge.... I get enough notifications with the phone app and internal bell thingy.
Would make sense to do away with the bell if using Alexa as the notification method.

Update the software/app and change the password straight away, all good.

I bought one of these a year ago. Picture is pretty good and you can adjust the detection zone, but expect notifications at all hours.

You also need to decide what action you would take if you get a notification at 2am. They can become quite annoying.[IMG]

We have a many Ring products here.

The doorbell, two external cameras, one internal camera, the alarm system, the monitoring & recording package. It all works together seamlessly, giving great peace of mind.

The only downside was my old android phone is rubbish causing notifications to take ages which necessitated a second 'chime' unit. My other half's iPhone XR works instantly with the system.

Ring products work really well and are easy to use, just make sure you following best security practise when setting up..

I would not recommend cheap Chinese clone versions of the Ring devices sold on Amazon, some of these devices are just plain insecure, some transmit your Wifi password unencrypted when they communicate....devices like this can be really easy to hack and consequences can be severe.

Cheers all, bought a Ring 3 Plus as it was on offer. Quite impressed with the whole thing really, set up was easy, all the tools needed to mount it were included as well. Job jobbed.

I bought one of them for my grandmother who can't get to the door in time.
It's a pain in the arse. It wouldn't connect reliably to her router down the hall so I had to install a WiFi extender. I didn't want her to have to charge it so I decided to connect it to the mains (yet Ring don't sell a suitable power supply themselves) so I had to improvise.
Then after a few months later the chime stopped working and I can't get to hers to look at it because of COVID.

Does anyone find the delivery drivers just bang on the door instead of pressing the button?! I think it’s because they don’t like to get recorded, even though as soon as they step on the drive they are!
