BMW FSH is good, and maybe your problem engine noise is something not too serious - only further checks will determine that.
But I would put the onus on the seller to carry out any investigation rather than do it yourself. I hope that you manage to resolve the issue. (y)

That really is a filthy engine bay considering it’s age and miles. Maybe driven in a dusty/muddy area, such as around farms and country lanes.
My 2012 E92 (from a Sytners dealership) was immaculate inside and out. However, I had a panic early on that the chain was on its way out. Turned out to be the plastic engine cover vibrating oddly at idle. A new rubber lug sorted that out.

Hopefully the supplying garage will honour the warranty and either it back in full or repair. If you like the rest of the car (I know people say they are mass produced but we do buy into a certain car due to spec and feel) maybe getting the issue identified and fixed will give you peace of mind.

If it were me, I'd reject it and walk away - the world's full of cars for sale.

That's what I noted, not a good sign of decent sales preparation.

Engine is definitely running rough. The fact it is moving about, could be a range of problems, needs a serious look by someone who knows the engine well.
