2019 Map Update

Updated my car with the latest Europe Next 2019-1 maps



Of course, I didn't go through 'official' channels but as it is out then let's hope it appears on ConnectedDrive soon for those still waiting

 

Lucky you! Still on 2018-2 on my G30 in spite of OTA updates. That's the same version I was running on my F10 when I traded it in in September...

 

Just checked my G30...despite having OTA updates booked till 03/2020 it is still on version 2017 -1.!

 

Further to the last post....despite having OTA updates I'm still on version 2017-1
Rang BMW customer services, this is a summary of a week's dialogue with them

1) Initially denied any problem with OTA updates
2) After being challenged admitted there was a problem and it had been "escalated to the highest level in Germany" They have no timescale for it being fixed
3) Suggested I did a USB update but stressed they could not guarantee it would work !
4) Not receiving the OTA updates I pay for I asked if they would send me a loaded USB..."oh no sir we don't do that as you have paid for OTA updates"
5) I then pointed out I don't have any laptop I can use a USB on.
6) After another exchange of email BMW CS then stated that any dealer would update the Sat Nav free of charge during the length of the OTA agreement...3 years from date of registration
7) Spoke to the dealer, who agreed they could do it, BUT they only had USB up to map version 2018 -2 !

Awaiting a response from BMW CS as the solution they offer will still leave me w updates behind the current one

 

Nothing has changed for me - I'm still on 2018-1 maps which I downloaded by USB in November 2017.

The latest Jackanory story from BMW CS is that new maps for my car will be available 'sometime in January'.

I'm not holding my breath.

 

Once upon a time in the land of BMW CS make believe they tell me they have no idea when the issue will be resolved, but when it is the maps sill update automatically.....

Oh and they don't know if hiw or when I will receive any notification the issue has been resolved

But

If it gets resolved and when I happen to notice it's been resolved I can contact them for a goodwill gesture !

 

Greetings Singvogel, our cars are very similar and if I remember the VINs are almost identical too. I used the BMW Updater app about 2 weeks ago to download 2018.4 maps. My USB update expires 30/12/2018 and I am going to keep trying to see if I can download 2019.1 before then but no luck so far. My map autoupdates are active till 30/12/2018 but the last time I was aware of an update taking place was back in March when I drove into part of the country I had not been to before. I suspect that when autoupdate was working it did not update all of the mapping, just the bits that you drove through.

Hi Douglas - yes, our ViN Nr.s are pretty close as I recall.

My USB updates are also only valid until 30th December.

I'm also going to keep trying till the end of the year and then I'm minded to wait until late Jan or early Feb before renewing the USB subscription.

The BMW CS is really disappointing - I just wish they could tell us the truth.

Let's keep updating this thread with any fresh developments we might have.

I was out driving earlier today and I got a message on the iDrive telling me map updates are available and did I want to download them now or later. I assumed this must be notice of an OTA map update, so I selected now, and continued on my journey. Nothing downloaded, just got home, it's still on 2018-2. Not exactly impressed.

 

I had the same a while back, I initially thought it had done it but upon checking next day was the same so ended up manually doing it in the end when available. I’ve pretty much given up with OTA as doesn’t seem to work so I always check via the download manager app on pc.

The 2019-1 map update is now available from the BMW Connected Drive website.
I've just downloaded it for my Professional NAV system. My 2 year subscription is due to expire mid January, so that was good timing.
I've had a total of 5 map updates for my £69.95, so not too bad.

 

Not available for me unfortunately.

My 3 year subscription is up at the end of December - I managed 4 updates - 2 in 2016 then 2 in 2017 but none (so far) in 2018.

 

Sorry to hear that you're still not getting any map updates, Bob. I don't know how BMW can possibly justify that. Road networks are constantly being updated. in the North West there have been several changes to major road / motorway junctions. No doubt you'll be looking for alternative suppliers in the future?

 

The latest fairy tale from BMW CS......they claim they have only been aware of issues with OTA updates for 2 weeks.

I've asked them to explain why in 2 years I and others have had no OTA updates, something which they are struggling to answer at the moment.

Cant lie straight in bed....

 

FYI

On f30post people are reporting that 2019 updates are available on the bmw download manager.

 

Uploaded 2019-1 onto USB [ 3hr 20min] yesterday , now just needs transferring over to car.

Added on Thursday. Just transferred over to car took about 10 mins.

 

Can I ask when exactly was your car built/registered, and does it have Business or Professional Sat-Nav?

Updated 2018-09-23 to 2018-4
Updated 2018-12-26 to 2019-1 not yet installed in car----- now installed OK
both done with 32 Gb Memory stick
Car has S6UNA Navigation which I understand is the Business set --it has the small screen

FYI - I've just downloaded the 2019-1 update for my 2015 F30 330d with Professional sat NAV. Now installed onto the iDrive.

Confirmation that there is neither rhyme nor reason to the Connected Drive map updates.

I'll keep trying until 31st Dec and then wait a while before I renew the subscription.
