Right --- took approx. 3 hours to download include Validation [13.27GB], then 1 hour to go onto my 32 GB memory stick. What on earth is BMW Connected Drive playing at? see comments in 52 above on the duff info they gave me. It took a few minutes to go onto the car ,which now says "Road Map EUROPE way 2018-4 EC1732C1R" I had seen comments on f48.bimmerpost.com regarding 2018-4 being available. See how it goes.
Surely not, Bob. I downloaded 2018-2 in July for the Professional Nav version. I would get onto Customer Services and ask them what they're playing at.
I am rather disappointed with the updates. I installed 2018-1 earlier this year. Early September went to Scotland from Derbyshire, the new roads connecting the M74 to the M8 near Bellshill were not updated, so it got completely lost, I don't know when they actually opened, so not sure if that is a fair criticism, but the Queenferry Bridge and it's approaches opened exactly a year ago, and that wasn't on either. It's the first time I've actually seen it except in pictures, and what an impressive and beautiful structure it is. Congratulations Scotland.
Interestly a suggestion on f48 that the older the car the longer before being offered the update, would be interesting to see if any substance in that.
Just did my first map update on my wife's 118i from 2017-2 to 2018-4 via a USB and the connected drive site - very easy to do thankfully as I think we would have waited forever for the over the air updates to happen!. While on the site I had a look at the options to update the maps on my car. While it used to say something like £79 for 24 months of map updates it now appears to show a £49 for an update although it is not clear whether it is one update or updates for 12 months.. Does anyone know?
It says E. G for 12 months so I assume in that time it would include 2 updates. You didn't fancy getting an Enet cable then?
I would also assume 12 months worth but it is BMW! TBH I had a look at the link you kindly sent but I have to admit to being a bit of an IT luddite so I am not confident of doing it properly..
Don't assume anything, guys. I haven't had any updates since 2018-1 back in November 2017. I should be getting 2019-1 around now - but I haven't had 2018-2 or -3 yet.
18 months ago, I paid £69.99. for 2 years updates. But last year BMW reduced their prices for iDrive services. Sounds like they have now been increased again?
That's bad news. I would be pushing BMW for a refund based on that. I know that you have the Business NAV system, but I would have thought that you would get the same map updates as everyone else? I'm hoping to download 2019-1 before my map upgrades expire at the end of January.
I think that OTA updates is a myth that only appears in BMW sales information. My car is now almost a year old and it has never received an OTA update. The dealer (Sytner Coventry) has checked it and assured me that OTA updates is working properly. BMW customer service erks reckon that my car doesn't have it but BMW Customer Service complaints section tell me that it does! My connected drive says that it is available for me to purchase. I think BMW is in breach of the Trades Description Act, in that the OTA update has not been provided but I am weary of phoning them to try to get it sorted. It took 4 months of phone calls and emails to get USB updates sorted. Maybe they rely on people just giving up. BMW don't seem to care. I think I'll be looking at Jaguar next time.
I'd assumed ota updates was for the idrive software only rather than the maps. I could be mistaken but downloading 30gb+ is an awful lot of data. I presumed map updates are only done via usb.
The OTA Nav updates are supposed to be changes and new road updates only, keeping the data package to a minimum BMW say not sure if anybody on here has ever had OTA updates
Just checked and 2018-4 is available for my Satnav so downloading it now. Not sure when it came out. Kev
I think it was fairly recently. I downloaded it yesterday and installed it in my car today, but I haven't tried it yet.
