Hi there guys. Literally just signed up and first time forum user. I've currently got a 2014 m135i that's been my first BMW. Whilst it's a brilliant car and rocket when needed the driving costs after only owning 10 months are just mental. Already racked 10k plus miles in it and eaten Tyres. Mpg tells me I average 29 on my daily 40 mile commute but Im yet to believe this. I'm finding myself constantly using eco pro mode just to get more miles out of it and keep thinking to myself, what's the point in paying for an m lite so decided I fancied a change. I have a bit of equity so have found a 2011 330d m sport touring. All the bells and whistles and it's only got 17k on the clock . Just wondered if anyone had any advice on things to look out for. Although its literally new. Or if I'm a bit mental as the 330d is up for 16k.

    Welcome aboard, Conor.

Can't help with your dilema decision, it's horses for courses - e.g. do you need the extra load capacity, or is this purely a cost thing?

Petrol to diesel :( , but then I'm a committed petrol-head so I'm biased - there are plenty on here who'll contradict me.

depends where you live, is it near London or other Cities that will have diesel restrictions?

    Thankyou very much.
The 135i is by far the quickest car I've owned but I don't use it in that way enough. A bit of research and I've come to the conclusion that a 330d meets in the middle of performance and economy. I think anyway . Load space isn't a massive issue now but eliminates the need for change in the near future. I've also got a MK1 golf that I need to throw some money at so I'm using that as a catalyst aswell. Just need to tell myself I don't need a race car as a daily Ive been a biased petrol head aswell but after my Mrs bought a 118d coupe I was pleasantly surprised and mileage will only be increasing for work
    Decisions decisions.

I live just outside of reading and commute to Ascot. 42 miles a day for the work commute and then weekends and evenings on top. Couple motorway and a road miles then b roads and the occasional bit of traffic

    Welcome Conor,

apart from the fact that you'll be the only person in the UK jumping from petrol to diesel you will have no regrets the 330d is a great machine.
    (but then I am biased)

    Kindest Regards
    Carl.

£16k sounds a lot for an e91, even with super low miles. On that note, why are the miles so low for a 7 year old car. It's not been used

Actually the second person, I did it too after selling my mint E46 330ci Convertible and getting a 535D Touring. Two completely different cars, I loved my 330ci but I equally love my 5!

I thought that aswell but from what I can tell it was owned by an enthusiast and literally a weekend car. Turned up at the dealership where it is now with stickers on all the buttons so they wouldn't wear out

Turns out the equity I thought I could pull out of my 135i is only based on what a stratstone dealership will offer. Obviously they can overprice my car and cars they sell. Although they don't sell any used stocked over 5 years old. Therefore no chance of getting an e91 through a main dealer. With full warranty ect

I do love my 135i. I just can't justify what I spend compared to how I use it. I just need to weigh up my options. Get out of the 135i whilst I can although I've only been offered slightly more than my owed finance. Hire purchase the 330d with minimal interest and no balloon payment or give in a get a 320

    Welcome to the Land .

All depends on mileage you re doing and you re daily commute leans towards a diesel for economy . Never had a diesel myself as I m another confirmed petrol head but quite a few of my family do and they love them ,so am in no position to give advice either. Know what you mean about using Eco Pro though , I use it all the time for town driving in my 435i as you can t use the power in town anyway , out of town is a completely different story though :D. Good luck with whatever you decide .

    I'm guessing a typo here, 62 reg is 2012/13.

    I don't think a 330d will feel slow after a 135i. I drove a 340i when I had my 530d and it didn't feel that much different.

Welcome to the 'Land @Conor chadwick, you will find many knowledgeable and helpful guys and gals here.

I agree that surely sounds expensive. I bought my Sept 2013 F11 MSport, 38k miles, with a generous spec, for under 17k.

Perhaps you can widen your search including 5 Tourings. They may not be that more expensive than the 3s.

Yeah 61. My mistake. Don't expect it to be slow at all. A 330d meets me in the middle of economy but reasonable performance .

I know that's where I'm struggling. It's more than what my 64plate m135i is worth. I could look for others. Or something slightly higher mileage. This one is just so mint

Nothing on the BMW Approved Used search? I've seen cars on there from 2009 before.

Mileage this low on a diesel is not necessarily a good thing, it suggests many short journeys.

There's nothing around on approved used that takes my fancy.
It may only be the stratstone guys. They palm all their older cars off to evens halshall. Will have a search through there.
