For us it was well worth doing. We're not eco warriors but we wanted a degree of self sufficiency and the ability to run an EV on sunlight - when possible.
I’ve had extended warranty on 3 of the 4 BMW’s I’ve had. In the end the e39 M5 didn’t have one for quite some time and was ok. I look at the money go out my account on the e61 M5 and often wonder if I would be better putting the same money in an account and dipping into it if I need to. I’ve had about £8,000 worth of work on the e61 since I bought it 7 years ago. I think about it on mine a lot as I tend to drive the car less than 10 times a year I guess. On the flip side, if I got rid of the warranty I know enough people and companies I can use to repair relatively economically for what the car is, but still can’t bring myself to cancel it. Difficult one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I work on the principle of Sod's Law. If I cancel my warranty tomorrow my car will lunch it's big end next week, or throw its gearbox. I could set my watch by it! Time was you would be taking a big risk running something like an M Car without the warranty but could wing it for something less complicated and stressed. Now you won't get change from £100 for just popping the bonnet and looking.
