Just as a quicky, try rebooting your router. Perhaps if you are able to switch it off and wait some minutes then switch it on again. This should give you a different IP address. The phone is using a different dynamic IP address through the phone provider.
The site has been hit by a lot of spam registrations lately so I’ve had to ban some IPs to stop the flood. What are the first few numbers of your IP and I’ll have a look to see if it’s one of them that has been banned (not suggesting spam is originating from your IP but spammers will spoof).
Had the same, but thanks to @Verbarthe I'm back among The Faithful again! Funny how we miss the place.....
Sorry - how do they hi-jack an IP number? Should I turn my modem off, leave it for a while, then turn back on? Will that 'reset' things to 'non-spammer' status?
I don’t think they hack it in the way you say, is just that they will hide their own location through the use of a VPN of sorts.
To... The CO, hope you can help. I've had a message from 535i MSport he's also got his IP banned. Peter
Unfortunately this the norm, with a plethora of organisations such as "hide my IP" to name just one. I used to administrate a WWII fighter flight simulator in New York (hence my name), and the only way to stop undesirables was to use a combination of methods to stop people from joining and getting banned and then rejoining, was to use an IP mask for instance 197.254.*. * Unfortunately, this was a rough tool and sometimes good guys got banned, so exception rules had to be applied.
Yup and then it fronts it with an IP address in the UK but originating from Ukraine. There is a prolific spammer in Germany that at one point was trying to register about 30 users a day on here. An utter pain in the arse.
Ok, I’ve cleared about 100 IPs so there should be no more issues. Once the spammers start again I’ll locate them before banning/deleting them, should avoid any blue on blue.
This fake VPN stuff is a nightmare. I now have difficulty getting access to the TIS site: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ MalWareBytes insists on blocking it.
I am back in thanks. And thanks to Pete who passed some messages on. Password changed too. I thought me driving a Mercedes had finally caught up with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No before you fixed it. I thought the VPN would’ve ‘fooled’ it but obviously not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
