It does sound very good. Had the opportunity to enjoy the car with the recent sun, great fun to drive and nice to be in a small car that's low to the ground. Driving the E60 after feels ultra comfy! Very nice! I had the 2.8 manual about 15yrs ago and loved it you could almost go everywhere in 5th gear! sounded lovely. Enjoy
I had the same engine in my 5 Series - a peach of an engine. I find the one in the 530i much the same.
Indeed - was out in the 328i vert yesterday and it is such a fantastic engine. When I had the 530i at the same time I thought the 2.8 edged it on noise but maybe the 5 was just better insulated!
I had an N reg 328i touring, but I do think that the 320i I owned before sounded better, that was also N reg.
Gave the Z a wash, T Cut and AG SRP - shined up nicely Current: BMW Z3 2.0i Roadster Steel Grey E60 530D Sapphire Black E38 750i Individual | Oxford Green Sent from my Samsung Note 10+ 5G using Tapatalk
Looks good . Friend of mine just up the street has one of these and loves it . the 2.2 6 Pot is reckoned to have the best sounding exhaust out of all the Z3 s .
Definitly -----unless you put wrong petrol in Our local station stopped selling Shell VPower so used Tesco Millenium for a couple of tanks. Engine not running good , and exhaust sounds all gone. Mate is into bikes asked if I had changed fuel , as he is only happy with Shell VPower or BP ????? Went to a different Shell station and after a couple of tanks all back to normal.
It certainly makes for a different bike transporter! Current: BMW Z3 2.0i Roadster Steel Grey E60 530D Sapphire Black E38 750i Individual | Oxford Green Sent from my Samsung Note 10+ 5G using Tapatalk
Upgraded my bike today so took a couple.of shots of it mounted on the Z3. The carrier hooks onto the body and undercarriage at 6 points and was very stable even at 60mph on the M62. Someone passing commented they'd never seen a bike carrier on a convertible, I can't say I have either tbh. Makes for a multi purpose vehicle, that's for sure. And looks pretty good Sent from my Samsung Note 10+ 5G using Tapatalk Current: BMW Z3 2.0i Roadster Steel Grey E60 530D Sapphire Black E38 750i Individual | Oxford Green
Nice. Did Alpina do a Z3? Swear I saw one this morning with the stripes on the side. Enjoy the car and the new bike. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cheers. No Alpina didn't go a Z3 version surprisingly, they did the Roadster S with the Z4. Current: BMW Z3 2.0i Roadster Steel Grey E60 530D Sapphire Black E38 750i Individual | Oxford Green Sent from my Samsung Note 10+ 5G using Tapatalk
Friend of mine had a Z4 Alpina Roadster S years ago. Nice car to be fair. I always wanted a Z4M Coupe in grey with red leather interior. Friend who had the Alpina turned up at mine one day with the Z4M Coupe in grey and red leather interior to show me and let me have a drive as he was on the way to sell it to someone. Never forgiven him for that as I would have bought it from him. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Another sunny day another ride, this time down the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and Roberts Park. The Z has become the perfect 'sun's out let's go for a bike ride' machine. It is running well and I'm used to the autobox. Would definitely prefer a manual if I got another, but I can live with it. Once lockdown is over I will pay some attention to the body, lots of gravel rash confined to the driver's door, oddly, which desparately needs a touch up. Also planning to fit my old subwoofer from the Subaru Outback into the Z to give it some decent low bass, as the current speakers are pretty weak. Treble is good but low tones are lacking, to say the least. I like how easy the manual roof is to operate and opening is a one hand task and takes mere seconds. Another mod planned is a set of LED headlights. I got them fitted on the E60 and they are still great after 18 months. A great fun little car and given I paid less than £1k, a lot of car for the money Current: BMW Z3 2.0i Roadster Steel Grey E60 530D Sapphire Black E38 750i Individual | Oxford Green Sent from my Samsung Note 10+ 5G using Tapatalk
The Z went off to another home yesterday, the more I drove it the more I realised the drive was simply not up to standard with the (now very dated) autobox. So advertised and sold within the hour! Who knew Automatic Z3s were in such high demand. I must have gotten 15 messages of interest in the first 30 mins and the buyer drove 2 hrs to have a short drive and pay in full. I had it delivered to him later yesterday evening. Onto a 'proper' Roadster next, picking it up on Tuesday.... and it has my favourite engine ever - the M54 that is in the E39 and early petrol E60s. I'll start a separate thread, but here's a teaser shot Current: BMW Z3 2.0i Roadster Steel Grey E60 530D Sapphire Black E38 750i Individual | Oxford Green Sent from my Samsung Note 10+ 5G using Tapatalk
Nice, early Z4 coming up! I did wonder if the auto box was well suited to that car, not a choice I’d have probably made. But sometimes you have to go through these things to find out. Looking forward to the new pics.
Good luck with the new Zed. Early Z4's are now really good value and the 3 litre manual is the one to have!!
