Not my cup of tea. 300bhp in something that weighs little over 1200kg, so it went well, but a hard ride, very loud and not very fuel efficient. Very tiring on the motorway, probably epic on the track though.

 

good to try something different, if only to reinforce that you like what you have.

You aren't having the best of luck with it - but I guess if they give out cars like that, I would be in need of warranty work quite often.... what are your thoughts? apart from low and noisy...

 

Couldn’t wait to get my Macan back in all honesty. I’ve thrashed cars like this around tracks and they are great, but as an every day driver, they become very tiring. I think a 911 would be a better prospect as they are less track focused and comfortable (the lesser versions anyway). But until I have enough money for a weekend car I am quite happy with my Macan.

 

Dunk, this latest incident was not really a fault of the car, even the sunroof seal was more wear and tear than anything, just really disappointing that the technician made it worse.

On the service front, I had them change the oil whilst it was in as it’s now on 17k and the last oil change was at 7k. I know it should be every two years or 20k, but I wouldn’t want to leave it that long. My next service will be a big one, however the gearbox oil was changed a couple of thousand miles ago and now the oil is fresh, I’m not actually sure what would need doing apart from air and fuel filters.

I know yours is on 20” wheels, mine is now too. I really like the ride on them, but I like the looks of the 21’s, but I’m not rushing to put them back. It’s well known that 20’s are the best compromise and I can now understand that.

A friend of mine has recently bought an 18 plate GTS, one of the last mark 1 cars, I have not seen it in the flesh yet but he is over the moon with it. It only has 6k on the clock and I’m eyeing that for my next car as he doesn’t keep them long.

Lastly, you are right to take the warranty, it is cheap compared to my old 535 GT that was £900 per year with £100 excess, the Porsche warranty has no excess and none of that stupidness like charging for diagnostics like BMW used to. Granted the Porsche has not been ultra reliable, but at least it’s cost me not a penny.

 

Your warranty cost is interesting and makes mine seem not as bad as I thought it was.

My C63S is £1700 with zero excess. Whilst the M3 is £800 with £250 excess (I think about £1400 if zero excess).

Swapped from winter wheels back to the summers today. 20” winters to 21” summers. Looks much better to me.

 

Nice! Watch those diamond cut wheels when parking.

I’m tempting fate here, but the tyres do give quite a bit of protection, especially the rears, 295 tyres on 10J rims.

Missing a bit of tyre shine, but heehoo! Plenty of time!

 

There is good reason for that. I find the tyre shine seems to 'bleed' onto the rims after a few days and makes them look nasty.

 

Your homework for today is to research tyre dressings and find the one which results in the least 'sling'....
