    Hello all,

    Hope you're all keeping well.

Been a while since I posted, thought I'd update the BMW situation now I'm back in one.

I sold the Subaru 6 weeks ago after being approached by an enthusiast whose 2.5 had given up the ghost.

So decided to come back to the fold and bought myself a nice manual 2007 E90 320d in black with beige leathers and a decent set of wheels.

After a month driving the 3, I missed the convenience of an automatic and the comfort the Subaru offered. So I decided to sell the E90 through my dealership and started looking for a comfortable 5 series.

After looking at a few E39s it became clear thst tidy examples are becoming increasingly hard to find, and the M5 is still a dream but I cannot justify spending 12k on one at present.

So I turned my attention to an E60. I've never been a particular fan of this shape, always preferring the F10/E38/E39 but wanted to try one.

I found an example at auction, black on black, 2005 530d with high miles (190k) but with 20 stamps that looked as though it had been a motorway cruiser.

I must say I'm very impressed with the comfort levels offered and the overall package, considering how much car I've got for the money.

Immediately had it booked in for a full Inspection II, brake fluid change & overall inspection. My Indy commented on how good it looks and drives for the age and mileage.

Sorted a set of uprated angel eyes in white and new LED headlight bulb conversion to improve visibility and as the car didn't come with an aux connection I've got a bluetooth FM transmitter for music through my mobile.

So my first E60 experience has been really positive so far, it looks great in black and my son loves it.

Will keep this thread updated, next up - audio upgrade.

Some pics of the Subaru, E90 and the new beast.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Congratulations!! (y) And welcome back :wavey:

I've just achieved 6 years with mine [wasn't new when I bought her] - Sapphire black metallic/beige leather 530i with manual 'box and virtually all the toys, now at 134k miles.
Did a run to Wales a couple of months back and recorded this for the downward leg :driving:

Be good to have a running report once you've settled to her. (y)

Still miss my E61 530d and that shape whilst controversial at first just gets better with time.
Wishing you many happy and safe miles (y)

    Kindest Regards
    Carl.

ps. had mine remapped by Simon at emaps, turned it from a quick car into a rocket ship with no side effects.

    Hope you're well Slim!

    40.9mpg is brilliant for a 3.0i lump

Mine is Sapphire Black too, great colour and the paint fleck reminds me of the Cosmos Black on my E38 750i Individual.

There's something about a dark BMW that appeals.

Interesting that a remap can make such a difference, definitely something to look into.

I was tempted to go for an E61, they have always looked good, but it is a BIG car and far bigger than I need.

    Cheers for sharing!

Ah, yes. Happy memories of my E60 530d, my first 6-pot BMW. Did about 80k in her.
