Why would you drive on a public road with T/C turned off?

Just too much throttle and on the white lines (these have little or no grip) - pushes her into snap oversteer and she doesn't correct in time...ouch

I have know plenty of people who switch off the traction control - they've seen the stig and jeremy clarkson etc. do it so think it's the right thing to do...

She'd be no good in my MR2.

I think shes floored it, not in a straight line, and touched the lines - perhaps lines are wet, shes lost it and couldn't control it. Not sure if T/C off. Could be though.

I think there's more to this than meets the eye, why is he wanting to go round her in any case, the corner is blind, and even more so for him if he has to pass her and the truck.
Hes prob been rammed up behind her in his smaller car before they came up behind the truck, as people often do, then seen a naughty opportunity to pass, shes thought "don't think so" .Perhaps ?

Daily Mail making a small mountain out of a relatively mundane story. “Driver is clueless about how to drive car shocker.” Should be the headline.

Auto car, big power, dim driver with a heavy right foot and slow responses. Sounds like a usual combination to me.....

Just sheer stupidity. There are plenty of them out there, with relatively high performance cars and not a clue how to handle them. I doubt that she would even know what Traction Control is.

I regularly see crashed cars, even on straight stretches of roads, and I ask myself "How the hell did that happen?".

Looks like cold engine, so possibly cold tyres, lead foot and even if TC was on it happened so quick and a distinct lack of skill lead to the carnage.
I drive most of the time with TC off or in MDM mode. You wouldn't believe how hard TC can cut in on an M when you want to, for example, pull out of a junction smartish, leaves you pretty exposed. In fact an M car feels strangled with TC on, turn it off and it is a different beast, you just need your wits about you. Something that driver never had.

I know drivers who stamp on the pedals. This is what can happen when they forget to do it in a straight line. Unsympathetic to the behaviour of the car or the laws of physics, and probably unable to learn from experience.

The limits of my car are way beyond the limits of my ability or bravery. However, the ego must always be kept in check. She learned it the hard way. I feel sorry for the car. And I agree that the dramatic portrayal of this silly accident, in which no one was injured, by the other motorist and the newspaper, says more about them than it does about the driver.
