We're the same - hibernating and waiting for the call to go and get the vaccine jab.

Some friends that live nearby both have covid. Her husband, who is 80, was in hospital several weeks before Christmas with an infected heart valve. There was an outbreak of the virus in the cardiology ward and they quickly discharged any patients they could. Her husband was sent home, a couple of days before Christmas, even though he had tested POSITIVE! He said that he
felt OK and has had no symptoms. They still had to visit hospital every other day to give him intravenous antibiotics to continue his treatment. But a week ago his wife went down with Covid symptoms and they both tested POSITIVE. The medics have since said that he is a super spreader and is still very infectious. So goodness knows how many people he has infected travelling backwards and forwards to hospital? Not his fault of course, as he isolated the required period at home.

@Wynne71 I hope that both you and your wife make a full recovery. Everyone else out there - take care and stay safe.

My Mrs is a teacher and caught it from a pupil at her school back in November, I then pretty much caught it from her within 24 hours. The lack of PPE in her school is shocking and staff were warned that disciplinary action could be taken against staff refusing to work :(

Last week a teacher in a different class was sneezed on and today tested positive

    How unlucky you were!

It is amazing that there is very little in some parts of the country and lots in others. Many cases in Oxford so we hear, but locally (8 miles from the city) only the pub landlord had it in April and a builder just down the road contracted it recently.
Wife and I had to fill in the consent form online today asking us to consent to any of the 3 vaccines. We are waiting to hear further. Both of us are 79 and keeping out of everybody's way.

Yes a speedy recovery to you both.

Mrs Mad is a midwife and works in Manchester but caught covid the 1st time around. She has not been back to work since early April and has long covid. Can't do much around the house let alone walk the dog. She turned 50 last year. Lack of breath and brain fog are the hangovers. Hopefully it'll get out of her system and has been referred to a long covid clinic but I think this will take a while to sort out whilst everyone concentrates rightly on immunising everyone.

BTW our Ctek 5 is getting some use atm

I must have had some kind of prophetic foresight when I bought the CTEK, fully charged both cars and then we were both hit with the Covid bug. My wife’s car hasn’t moved in 11 days, mine for 7 days and counting. Mrs W has the go ahead to leave the house as of midnight today, she won’t be driving by al least she can go for a walk. I’m still sleeping most afternoons, the slightest bit of mental or physical activity drains the energy banks pretty quickly. Maybe I should plug the CTEK into myself.........

Hope you both recover speedily and without long term issues.

As to charging yourself. I sense you have an equivalent warning to some cars... "battery draining while stationary"... at least you know why.:D

l bet CTEK are loving this third lockdown

l had to order a CTEK yesterday car has not moved for over two weeks and yesterday when l went to get something out of the car comfort access was not working so l guess that is a sign that the battery is getting low and the car is shutting down unnecessary functions to maintain the ability to start

so l started the car and took it for a spin of around half an hour just to top up the battery a bit

so it is my turn to get the car on the CTEK for a top up on Sunday morning as l don't like taking it out on what could be deemed an unnecessary journey

The comfort access turns off after being inactive for a certain period so more than likely that rather than battery level. I can’t remember what the period is though.

Reminds me need to top the MINI up. Battery is still just about holding on!

Despite on previous charge ups with the Ctek, the welcome lights never come on. I know this is one of the features it shuts down when low battery, but they probably haven’t worked for about 3/4 years despite some full charges.

Wishing everyone infected or impacted with COVID well. I still think we have another 12-18 months before resuming some normality. :(

I agree - we have basically put our lives on hold, and gone into 'hibernation mode' - not too difficult with the weather / temperatures we are having at the moment - but a second Summer in any form of lockdown will be difficult, especially missing contact with the great grandchildren, and overseas relatives.

Mrs S and I haven't spent this long in the UK for over 35 years.

Well I think I jinxed myself on 29th January. MINI wouldn’t start this morning so out comes the Ctek!

Whilst mentioned earlier in the thread, I did look out for some terminal points but couldn’t see any in the MINI so hooked it up as I always have directly to the battery.

Whilst this will get a good 24hours charge, it never reaches maximum health.

You should set it to AGM as you have an AGM battery.

It could take 8 hours if really low

Keep it on for 24 hours.

You read my mind. When I was looking back at the photos I posted before, I noticed on one it wasn’t AGM.

I’ve never set it to AGM it just automatically adjusts but I still had to satisfy my mind and go out to check. Sure enough it has automatically adjusted.

    Appreciated though
