As we all know we have lost Ollie our original tyre and wheel guru.:cry:
Anyway, I had a web link with a chart many years ago where you could put in the wheel details such as bore size, lug size bolts and quantity, the rim width, rim size and the offset etc etc and then do a search. In my case, the search is obviously for BMW. What I was trying to do was use the wheel dimensions for a an X1 (48 ) and put it in the search and it would come up with other cars that had the same dimensions such as series 1 or whatever.

I cannot find it in my documents anymore! Can anyone provide the link or lead me in the right direction?

    Many thanks

    Peter

    Hi Peter
    They are a bit of an odd size , BMW have mostly gone 5 x 112 since 2014 with the 2 series first as it was based on a Mini chassis they took over the 5 x 112 format , alloywheelsdirect.net/information /fitting _chart/BMW have a BMW fitting chart that covers all BMWs but it is a bit basic . Your car is 7.5j x 18 et51 , 5 x 112 , centre bore 66.6 , offset et52 , bolt 14 x 1.25 , wheel torque 120 nm 89ft-lb , 2 series 8j x 18 et57 , 5 x 112 , centre bore 66.6 , bolt 14 x 1.25 , wheel torque 120 nm .
They are fairly similar to the 2 series apart from the 7.5" width and et52 offset , Audi , VW and Mercedes run very similar 5 x 112 on certain cars but have different centre bores so at 57.1mm they would need machined to fit as they wont fit over the hub wheel size on the 2018 Audi A3 is the same at 7.5 x 18 , et51 offset , but bolt size is 14 x 1.5 so they would also need altered .
I have a couple of sets of F45 / F46 2 series 18" with winter tyres on if you want to test fit that were on my previous 2 cars now sold , they are running 225/45/18 x 4 winter tyres and have the rdci / tmps BMW sensors which you would also need to fit to your new wheels , £80 each plus fitting by BMW .
    regards
willtheyfit is also another good site again a bit limited .

Thanks for your response. I am just doing some research.
My car is not in production yet. I did the deal (going from 2 cars to 1 car) as far back as April, but with the Regensburg plant not starting up until May after shutdown everything is behind schedule. My car is due to start production at the end of August with delivery end of September so they say. It is a 2020 F48 LCI X1 xDrive 2.0i MSport with lots of toys. I have all the measurements for the wheels - very slightly different to what you posted might I add. See below.
To cut a long story short! I have ordered the adaptive suspension with NON run flat tyres on the standard M Sport 18" wheels with a space saver. Adaptive deletes the the standard M sport suspension in the UK configurator, giving 2 suspension settings. It might be 3 but working on assumption of just 2. The tyres for the UK are Bridgestone Turanza summer tyres that are * marked and are 225/50 R18 99 W.
There are 3 cars in our village 2017, 2018, 2019 all on these tyres as run flats and the dealer advises mine will most probably have the same but NON run flats.
Anyway living on the edge of the Cotswolds (where we can get snow ice in the winter) I would like to fit all season (cross climate) tyres instead of summers. I do not wish to mess about with winters. Purely on the grounds of safety might I add. I carried out research and found that Canadian/USA cars even as far south as Florida and California can have fitted on production cross climate all season tyres from Continental, Pirelli, and even on their X1 configurator they show Michelin. I also see on the forums I asked and some have them fitted.
Given they do this across the pond, then cross climate tyres from these manufacturers must be * rated or at least authorised by BMW for fitment on production without affecting the warranty. I wrote to BMW customer support UK and asked them if I would have a problem fitting them. They even rang me back and the fool who rang me said it might affect the warranty of transmission components if it was suspected that it was the tyres that caused a problem. So the same carcass tyres (* rated) with different tyre compound for all climates is going to cause a problem I asked. Well the guy became all autocratic and would not discuss any further and said that was the end of it and there was nobody else to appeal to. Bring out the red flag for the bull.
I then sent a nice letter to the CEO BMW Head office and put my point of view and he asked the head of customer service to respond to me. The reply was as usual the BMW non comital letter as follows (no names for data protection.)
So back to my original question. It is my intention to get a second hand set of wheels and fit all season climate NON run flat tyres from Michelin/Pirelli/Continental and keep the original OEM delivery wheels and tyres and in the very very unlikely event of a transmission fault, swop them back for presentation of said fault to the dealer.
I have seen several sets of wheels for the X1 for sale on sites. If they are there at the end of September then I might consider them. Otherwise I will research further....now you see the reason behind the question.

Worthy of note. I did purchase a set of BMW wheels and winter tyres for my x3 some years ago, with the overall cost IRO of £2200. From:

    Not going that route again

Hi I would ask if they would fit all season tyres to the car as many manufactures are fitting these as standard if you are not going to run summer wheels and use these all year round , I cant see a problem with using them and not invalidating warranty as they are BMW star marked they will have been tested by them to be approved , unfortunately some dealers are recommending Mo tyres from Mercedes as they are very similar to the star marked ones .
We had a E84 X1 for 6 years and 60k miles great car although the fit and finish was not up to the usual high standards , I had an E53 X5 at the time and it just felt a bit cheap for a 30k car . Changed it for a F46 gran tourer 220d M sport xdrive which again never really felt particularly well put together or had the highest levels of trim again a 38k car with all the toys . I trade that in a couple of months ago for a F20 2019 M sport shadow edition , we went for this due to another F15 X5 purchase 6 months ago , I could have gone for a new 1 series but the grills have me wondering which direction BMW are going in.
I have had quite a lot to do with sales men / women over the last 30 years and they amaze me at the lack of knowledge in the product that they sell , parts managers are worse still not even knowing the pcd of the wheels or if they will fit other models in the range .
All I can do is try to point you in the right direction but it seems a shame that your new wheels will have to be replaced with wheels and tyres of your choice when you should have been given the option in the first place !
Good luck with the new car .

I have already tried that. There are no * rated 18" tyres for the X1 f84 from any manufacturer in the UK that are NON run flats. Perhaps you did not read all the above?

Hi Peter I see you have been on the X1/X2 forum aswell about the tyres ?
I was once told by a tyre MD that most of the tyres sent to BMW etc are all A grade tyres , they are all graded on the manufacturing lines as the grade decrease then these tyres are sent to outlets who then can sell them cheaper , I think this is where the star rating probably comes from as the cost to the manufacturer each year would be huge . Just checked that some other markets have the option to spec all season tyres eg America etc although I dont think that you can buy all season none runflat premium star rated tyres in the UK .
I am a bit confused as to why you want to run all season for 12 months of the year as they are not the best in any condition and due to the compound set up might even wear out quicker in each season . Most premium brand summer tyres will out perform all season tyres , braking , performance and economy . All winter tyres will out perform all season tyres which will age more and deteriorate which begs the question why do you want them ?

Yes. It is/was me on the other forum!

Cannot see the grading being such that A grades would be sent to BMW and lower to other outlets. You did see the comment by a Canadian/USA user who said that Pirelli used an OEM tyre that was not as good as they could get in local garages or words to that effect. . So that is contrary to say the least.

Black Circles is owned by Michelin, so the tyres will not be of a lower grade from them.

Before starting on this little project and posting, I spent time over several weeks talking to Black Circles and Michelin themselves. I learnt a lot. You did see and read what BMW sent me in the email reply above? It is the usual BMW disclaimer so they can worm themselves out of a situation if it gets too difficult to handle.

The latest all season tyres are excellent in many respects. The latest have the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

I want to do it because I can and want to, especially after running them on my wife's car some year back.

Every year (Xmas) for around a month we go up to Yorkshire in the Halifax, Huddersfield and Calderdale area. My sister lives in Barkisland (last of the summer wine) and some years ago we had to stay several days longer because we could not get out of the village because of the snow. I do not need to pay out for dedicated winter tyres for that possibility again, so I would readily accept the compromises made by cross climate tyres.

All this is about options. Once I get the car, I will have a good look at it and most likely leave things as they are.
