Some bonkers figure being quoted here, none more so than the price, £105/107K for the saloon and estate. Wow. Does sound incredible though. Maybe in five years when they have fallen to my price bracket..... https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-germancars/alpina-launches-621hp-b5-saloon-and-estate/42568
Surprised nobody is interested in this article, thought there would be much love for the Alpina Estate. 600+ bhp with the dog in the back, what could possibly go wrong....
I'm interested. If I was 'wasting' that amount of money on a car, the Alpina touring would be top of the list. I'll take a miss on the dog in the boot. Peter
The B5 Touring would be amazing, it looks pretty subtle though, even for an Alpina which have historically always been more restrained than their M cousins. Pretty expensive though! The B3 perhaps, but they are so rare on the used market. I will make do with the C63 S. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m not sure which makes my eyes pop the most, the white leather or the sparkly green paint. Certainly a rare beast in Alpina spec, then made even rarer with that colour scheme.
The B3 has been reviewed now: https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-driven/2020-alpina-b3---ph-review/42692 Not sure the red of the saloon is in keeping with the “under the radar” approach, still uber cool though.
Alpinas do offer something, but not only are they expensive, but you can’t get the big discounts that you can on “normal” BMWs. Eg M340i 16% and even on the new M440i 12%. Interesting that sales dropped from 300 to 100 cars a year in the UK, because they didn’t replace the original D3. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Big discounts only serve to de-value a car. They have a small niche market and probably don’t need to discount any of them as they know they will sell a certain amount every year. Probably quite a nice position to be in at the moment Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
