As per title, I’m out and looking to replenish the space in the shelve After no deliberation, I’ve learnt I use in too strong a concentration, so shall be more tighten up on future use Is gtechniq citrus wash worth the outlast £34/5L ?
I've not got into such good car cleaning habits. I get the car wet, then load some wash/wax mix into an old hose connected phostrogen plant feeder canister. Spray that all over the car and get to work with more mix in a bucket, using my Meguiars Microfiber Wash Mitt. Yes, I do use a bucket with grit guard. My son has just got into snow foaming his vehicles, not sure what he's using. Peter
l am currently using a couple of different snow foams first and probably my go to snow foam is Bilt Hamber auto foam l like this snow foam as it really does do a good job as a pre wash, for my pressure washer you do have to use quite a high concentration with about 400ml of product in a 1000ml foam lance bottle but dialled down to the lowest setting l can wash the car three or four times per bottle full, this snow foam is a thin and watery snow foam that runs off the car fairly quickly but it does do a good job at pre washing. lf you want thick shaving foam that clings to the car for ages then Bilt Hamber is not for you the other foam l am currently using is KKD Blizzard snow foam and this is also a good snow foam it is about a pound dearer for a five litre bottle than the Blt Hamber but you use less in the lance so it lasts longer, l use around 100ml of product in a 1000ml bottle with this one and dialled down to the lowest setting it wll also do three or four washes but whack it up to the max setting and you can empty a bottle in one wash and the car is covered in a thick layer of shaving cream that seems to cling for a long time and it does a good job of pre washing the car as well. l am a great advocate of pre wash and f the car is real dirty then l use valet pro citrus pre wash first then pressure wash this off then snow foam to get the car as clean as possible before the contact wash
www.perfectpolish.co.uk/auto-foam www.perfectpolish.co.uk/kkd-blizzard-snow-foam l personally would not spend £35.00 on a five litre bottle of snow foam that to me sounds expensive lf you want to waste half an hour of your life have a look at this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmVeTbarlH4
Some interesting options, I get the £34 / 5l being a tad expensive, My actual need is for a product that’ll lift 3weeks of fallout silica etc before the washing stage!
I'm using Valet Pro like this - https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/valet-pro-ph-neutral-snow-foam Seems pretty good - using 100ml in 1000ml container - lasts for 4 washes or so.... Does a good job of softening the hideous caked on mud we get in the winter months prior to getting involved with the mitt...
AutoGlym Polar Blast. I wish I'd discovered it years ago. Frequently that's all I need to use and there's no need for anything else - except perhaps finish off with AG AquaWax.
lf you just snow foam and rinse the car do you just leave the car to air dry ? l used to be able to do that but our water seems to have changed and if l do that now l get terrible water spots
I never let the car air-dry - I always do a drive around the houses of approx 1 mile just to dry the brake discs. Even if I'm not using AquaWax it's only a few minutes work with a microfibre towel / cloth to mop up any little drops left. The water in Aberdeenshire isn't too bad but yesterday I washed the car here in Bosna and the cloudiness left on the glass is scary. I don't drink the tap water here - except in coffee - the beer is much better.
I purchased some Autoglym snow foam thinking that it would simplify the washing process during winter. But although it does remove most of the accumulated dirt, there is still a film left on the paintwork, which means that I then have to wash with Body Shampoo and a wash mitt. So far from saving time, it just adds an extra stage to getting the car clean. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? So I've stopped using snow foam and instead, just give the car a jet wash to remove grit etc., followed by a normal wash with shampoo.
the joys of owning a sliver car l could never do that with mine as just a snow foam and pressure wash still leaves some dirt and debris on the car and drying with a microfibre towel would risk leaving micro marring on the dark paint so still use a three step wash where start with a citrus pre wash pressure wash this off then snow foam and finally two bucket wash method and towel dry l have just used the auto finesse aqua deluxe drying towel today for the first time and first impressions are very good
Snow foam is a pre wash so it is another stage to the wash process in the depth of winter when it is freezing cold l do get away with a snow foam and a spin around the block to get most of the water off so it doesn't dry and water spot it makes the car look better but it is far from ideal but winter washing is not always the best of fun for a full wash l would spray the lower parts of the car with citrus pre wash leave to dwell and then jet wash that off then snow foam and jet wash again so by the time you get to the contact wash stage you have got as much dirt off as possible to avoid marring the pant
I’ve got one of them, it houses 4 bikes. Cross Trainer, a trailer a pressure washer and Henry... It’s a valid point, I’m now wondering if said car would fit...... Brace for impact!
I’ve used many Snow foams, hence the initial question, regardless all have required a mitt wash afterwards, they all leave residue, more so / most notable on white paint.. I’m needing something that will pull the environmental fallout and save the marring... might try the Autoglym as it has recieved good reviews & buy one get one half price in Halfrauds! making the 5litre purchase realistic!
The paintwork needs to be really well waxed or sealed before you'll get away with a quick blast with snow foam - it's not designed to lift all the dirt etc off - as posted above it's a prewash to reduce the amount of dirt/grit on the surface before you put a mitt near it.
