My lads just joined the BMW club. Hes bought a 118d M Sport coupe in white, 60 reg, 57k miles full service history with loads of receipts. Already modded by second owner with a 1M front bumper, side skirts and a rear diffuser, and re-mapped to 200. Apparently a few more aesthetic mods will be on the way. (black roof )
Looks tidy, and tastefully modded too. Whats with the black roof craze at the moment? We had a white golf in on Saturday having the roof wrapped black before being polished etc and the wrapper was telling me hes doing loads of them. I must have missed that memo
the black roof thing is harping back to the 1970s and the black vinyl roof, my dad had a nice beige mk1V cortina with a brown vinyl roof not a look i will be replicating anytime soon but seriously is probably down to the likes of BMW fitting exposed carporn fibre roofs to their M cars, I saw a focus in Leicestershire the other day with what can only be described as a bit of carbon effect fablon stuck to the bonnet with lots of creases and air bubbles in it i actually felt sorry for the girl that was driving it was that bad
looks like a nice car should be fun to drive I had a 2013 120 D M sport coupe with and auto box and flappy paddles with 300 miles on the clock as a loaner for a week and it was a good fun little car to drive around the lanes of wales, I used to come home from work and just go out for a spin just for the sake of driving it something i never normally do
I did my 640d way back in 2012 think it was. Have a look in the 6 series section for my review post when i sold it- it transformed the look of the car. Yeah because the black roofs on the M6 etc, but also because Mercs had it back then too and it looked good, particularly on white cars. Spends most of his spare time on the MR2 now though. @Kev2005 yeah thats his O/H car. Previously he had a Leon FR on contract and i gave him an old 62 insignia when it went back. But he couldn't bare it any longer.
Apparently it has Bluetooth onboard, but not enabled (best way for me to describe it). He's been told that it needs system update to enable the blue tooth to work. £280 ! Has anyone got any experience or ideas to get round it ?
Carporn fibre, I like it. My Mkv Cortina had a black vinyl roof, but its not something that I would try to replicate nowadays. Didn't think of the exposed carbon image thing.
No experience, and no idea if it will help, but you could speak to Craig at BR Retrofits and Diagnostics (look him up on facebook, or if not I will see if I can find a number for you), he can do some coding and updating remotely although I don't have experience of this, he lives local to me so I just meet up with him and get him to do it 'live'. He's very good, and has sorted a few things for me and a couple of mates. I believe he is on babybmw as Wibbles
