Autocar tested a nice yellow stinger, they rated it as well. I live just up the road from their offices and have seen that actual car, it looks very nice.
What engine option would people go for if they bought a Kia Stinger? One couldn't really say that it fits the thread title of being an M car equivalent.
Brand new Kia Stinger or a less than three year old immaculate M5 with less than 11000 miles for a good few thousand less. Know what I would choose. Stuff the 7 year warranty etc lol
I would imagine the Kia Stinger in top engine trim is a very good car but you have an M and you don't seem ready to desert it yet for the Kia lol I have never driven one and am prepared to be educated but I just cannot see it comparable to a proper M. I was out in the M5 earlier and gave it a proper bootful and bloody hell can it shift. Absolutely brutal but it also feels so balanced. Can a Stinger really compare? Someone in my village has a 17 plate X5M and good god that flies for such a big car, was bloomin surprised, X6M must be very similar.
I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting the Stinger is comparable to a M series car, just that it is a nicely styled Kia. For one thing the auto gearbox does not even have manual gear option, so it's hardly a sports car.
Must admit that I know nothing about it as I feel there are far more interesting/better second hand cars available for less so have zero interest in it but I would imagine as a new sporty style saloon car proposition it is quite appealing. Just think the name is utter crap. I keep hearing it in a Clarkson style voice lol
I saw an MX5. Not a pretty little Mazda, but an X5 3.0d with an M badge seemingly thrown randomly at the tailgate. I wish I'd taken a photo. Best laugh I had that week.
86 pages worth debating M badges on non Ms on pistonheads https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=181&t=805555
I love that Micra. It's so silly. How could anyone be offended? I've never visited a boot badge thread which wasn't awfully dull. People can do what they like as long as they don't touch my car. This thread is a bit more upbeat. I scanned the first page of the PH thread that Paul posted. Talk about deja vu. And dull dull dull.
But it shows you how it really is the most talked about badge lol, but 86 pages is simply nuts. Even Clarkson on the last aired episode of the grand tour commented about the badge on mays m850i .
I agree, it has been diluted big time. Gf drives a C250 AMG Line, now she bought the car purely based on its looks (the white leather interior was the selling point), its essentially a 2.1 turbo with 9 gears with AMG clothing in my eyes. For the exact same car but AMG spec would be an extra £20,000 and they'd be using a V6 or V8 depending on the model. I do think over the years BMW/Merc have kinda lost that touch plastering every car with the M/AMG badge, its a shame really. One things for sure, if I ever purchase an M Sport? It'll be a proper one.
Any BMW carrying the M Sport name is a proper one. A proper M Sport BMW. M cars are different things altogether. If people think they are buying an M Car because it is in M Sport trim, more fool them.
