I’m looking at removing the swirl flaps on my 2004 e61 525d I believe that there are 2 sizes on these 22mm and 32mm is there any way of checking without removing the inlet as I don’t want to take it off too many times as knowing my luck something will break

I’m almost sure... the 525d does not have swirl flaps!

    However,
There is no definitive ways of knowing the size, most bought both sizes and returned the other

I’ll ask My pal at work
His 525d 2005 is on 240k so far
His inlet manifold came off for gunk bath cleaning a few tens of thousands of miles ago...

I didn't fit blanks, remove the flap guides and their mechanism, tap the existing holes and then fit an M5 screw in place to seal it. For security pot the screw into the assembly with a two pack epoxy.

The orange rubber seals can fall out when removing and refitting the manifold, when they fall off the manifold they can be hard to get to. Be careful and all will be well, drop one where you can’t reach and you may need to buy new seals.

Swirl flaps removed today. Think I got to them just in time. They looked really bad. Changed glow plugs and egr delete at the same time. Only problem I have is some one had been there before and lost one of the sleeves and to of the rubber rings from the 11mm nuts on the manifold any one know where I can get any?
    Thanks

Had a look on real oem but couldn’t see them listed. Got a feeling they come with the manifold
