Car's booked in at Cotswold Cheltenham tomorrow for all the above. Always try to do evertyhing at once to minimise visits. Can't believe it will be 4 in March! Out of respect for the Tech' I've given the under bonnet a spring clean. If you look closely you will see I've followed Zarnds example and wired in a CTEK connector. (by the washer bottle cap) As far as I know all is well, fingers crossed for the EGR as I don't fancy having it impounded for a few weeks. Isn't it typical I have to be in Ludlow at midday and there's a chance of snow, bet the courtesy car doesn't have winters. Kindest Regards Carl.
Hi Carl Your car is 4 so egr should be good...!! Hopefully..,Ours is 6 years old this spring... and we were losing coolant... You bet the courtesy car won’t have winters.... our hire car has now transformed into 2 year old Ford Focus... but at least it fits in the garage... and the wife prefers it over the mokka..!! good luck with the EGR recall lets hope you get the all clear, your car must be a similar build date to mine if it is four years old in march, mine is a January 2015 build and was in last Thursday for service and EGR recall and thankfully i got the all clear on the EGR mine is back for MOT on 21st march and like you it is a fair run to the dealers so i have got it booked in with the detailers for a spring clean and then it will be going for its MOT on the same day
Well it had to happen didn't it. Sure enough the bore scope inspection revealled a build up of soot. You know the rest, just waiting for BMW to contact me re hire car. Kindest Regards Carl.
mine lost some coolant and bonged this morning - she's booked in for the recall in April should I be concerned?
The service advisor this morning was up to speed and went through the various scenarios, one of the triggers they're looking for is coolant loss. Might be worth trying to bring your date forward ! Kindest Regards Carl.
Ouch.... You never know you might be lucky... different part numbers arriving everyday...!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fingers crossed, on the plus side I got back from Ludlow before the snow started. Didn't fancy sliding around in the 218 courtesy car. Kindest Regards Carl.
If the only 'problem' is a build up of soot can they dismantle the egr and its cooler, clean them and then pressure test the cooler to see if it's leaking? A build up of soot doesn't necessarily mean new parts does it?
They have a set script which dictates what action they take. I would feel happier with a replacement for peace of mind as there shouldn't be soot anywhere. I only use it for long journeys, only use BP Ultimate and make swift progress where appropriate All the internals should be clean as a whistle! Kindest Regards Carl.
You bet John.,, We get a car that’s fits in the garage and has a heated screen... Double bonus.... No winter tyres though.... uggh Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well team now in a Hyundai Ioniq hybrid auto for the foreseeable future. Can't bring myself to post a pic' just imagine a cockroach with 4 wheels and you'll get the picture. Enterprise were hassle free to deal with and the young man said I was the most chilled about it of the many he'd met. Apparently some are spitting mad! Just grateful to be kept mobile, although it is ironic that my winter tyre shod car is now stuck in a compound whilst it's snowing. Kindest Regards Carl.
Oh, not good. Mine is losing coolant but it is booked in for alloy wheel refurb next week so nothing will happen until the week after.
I would give them a call asap to get it booked in, some are reporting wait times of two or three months until they can get a date for the recall check, i was lucky and got a date about three weeks out so worth the call to get a date booked
if your car goes into BMW as a trade in i would imagine that they well do the recall work before selling it on, that is assuming you are staying with the BMW brand rather than a car from Ingolstadt or Stuttgart
